The forthcoming 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak comes with a high level of expectations. VW’s concept looks promising and now everyone is expecting one astonishing pickup truck to hit the roads. Atlas Tanoak is a mid-size pickup truck that will arrive in one-year time. It offers a stylish appearance and it looks very modern, even from the inside.
Clearly, the truck is based on the Atlas SUV and it will also carry a name of three species. Atlas Tanoak will be the largest model ever that will ride on the famous MQB architecture. This truck will also offer a powerful V6 unit under the bonnet.
2020 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Dimensions and Design
Volkswagen said the arriving truck will be very close to the concept in every possible category. That means the production model will be 214.1 inches long. That is significantly longer than the Atlas SUV model. Interestingly, the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak is longer than Honda Ridgeline by 4 inches. On top of that, the truck is 72.6 inches tall and 80.0 inches wide. With such a large dimension, Atlas Tanoak will be the largest model that ever deployed the MQB platform like the Tarok model.
However, Atlas Tanoak will be classified as the mid-size pickup truck. Design-wise, this model will look very stylish. The concept was visible in a crew cab configuration with a shorter bed. We are sure the Volkswagen will offer numerous cab styles. Logically, a truck that is based on an SUV model will surely borrow a thing or two from its sibling. The front fascia comes with a handsome look and standard LED headlight units. The rear end will sport animated taillights and additional LED strips. This truck will ride on a premium 20-inch aluminum wheels.
Cabin Looks Futuristic and Techy
The concept didn’t show the cabin. For that reason, we are still unsure about most of the details from the inside. The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak will wear the same design language as the Atlas SUV. However, we don’t know if the interior layout will be the same. Whatsoever, we can expect a lot of illuminated features and very modern ambient lighting. As you probably know, the ambient lighting will change the color, depending on the driving mode you opt for.
The infotainment system will be all-new and it will come with a large display. Some of the parts will look very traditional but some parts will surely look futuristic. German automaker likes to combine these two and add a high level of comfort. The cabin will host high-quality materials, no doubt about it. However, leather upholstery and similar premium amenities will be optional. There will be room for five passengers.
2020 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Engine
No surprises under the hood as the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak will borrow the engine from its SUV predecessor. That means the truck will ride on a 3.6-liter V6 and it will be the only engine option.
Powerful V6 is producing up to 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. It comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the optional 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The mid-size truck will offer numerous driving modes, which includes modes for snow, mud, sand, and rain. Arriving pickup truck will reach from 0 to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds. Besides the fuel economy rating and interior details, price is another mystery. The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak won’t start below $30,000 according to some reports. The mid-size pickup truck will hit the dealerships in the first quarter of 2020.
