It’s been more than eight years since this pickup truck originally came, so it’s not wondering that many reports suggest that 2019 VW Amarok should come redesigned. Development of this model started even earlier since a concept version had its premiere in 2008.
With a such number of year behind, we could consider this truck a bit old, especially because this is a pretty competitive segment, with many excellent models around. So, changes are needed if the company wants this model to stay competitive. Although there is still no official confirmation, a big number of our reliable sources suggest next year for the overhaul. So, what to expect from the 2019 Amarok?
A complete redesign sounds very likely. We should see a new architecture, new chassis parts, as well as new styling. Speaking of engines, expect to see VW’s familiar units, just improved for a bit.
2019 VW Amarok redesign
This redesign should bring plenty of novelties. The new 2019 VW Amarok will come with significant changes in pretty much all aspects. First of all, we are expecting to see a completely new platform. The new chassis will save some pounds while keeping same strength. After all, this is an off-road vehicle, so performances should be a priority. Besides new chassis, this redesign will, naturally, bring a new styling to us.
The 2019 VW Amarok will adopt the new design language of the brand, which basically means no radical changes. This manufacturer is characterized by conventional, conservative style which means no big turnarounds. The base shape will remain the same, while the new front end could receive a design similar to the new Atlas SUV. On the other side, we could see a little bit longer wheelbase, which will provide few inches more for passengers and cargo as well.
2019 VW Amarok body styles
Several reports suggest that the 2019 VW Amarok will have a wider offer of body styles. If we exclude those special editions, there are three body styles currently in the offer. Naturally, the base model comes with a classic regular cab design. Besides this workhorse, there is also a more comfort-oriented double cab variant, which features two rows of seating, but a slightly smaller bed.
Finally, there is a chassis cab version, available for some specific markets, such as Australia etc. All three variants should carry on for the second-generation model. Additionally, there is a rumor about SUV version of this truck, which would compete with models like Nissan Xterra etc. Still, this is just a rumor, so take it with big reserve.
2019 VW Amarok engines
The 2019 VW Amarok will most likely continue with same engines in the offer. Still, some tweaks for better efficiency are expected. The current generation comes with several engines in the offer and most of them are diesels.
The only gasoline engine in the offer is a 2.0-liter unit with a max output of 160 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque.
On the other side, famous 2.0-liter TDI comes in several output variants. The base version is good for about 120 horses, but there is a model with 140 horses in the offer as well.
The third version of this engine comes with two turbochargers, making around 175 horses and 310 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a 3.0-liter V6 in the offer. This engine also comes in several versions with a max power in a range from 160 to 220 horses, while a max torque is around 410 pound-feet.
2019 VW Amarok release date and price
The 2019 VW Amarok should come next year, but the more precise launch date is yet to be announced. Bigger changes in price are not expected, so base models should go around 30.000 dollars.
