The new 2023 Toyota Tacoma has been spotted testing, and it wears many cues from the popular Tundra model. As we can see, the new truck comes with the same massive front grille, front bumper, and headlights. If you didn’t know, this midsize pickup has been around since 2015, and it has received a couple of upgrades over the years.
According to the news, the forthcoming model will come with a more attractive styling and a more modern cabin. On top of that, Toyota will probably introduce some of the new engines. It could deploy the naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a new turbo engine that should replace the 3.5-liter V6 unit.

Is Toyota Going to Redesign the Tacoma?
As far as we know, the forthcoming 2023 Toyota Tacoma will introduce some upgrades, mostly on the front and rear. It should get the same massive front grille, front bumper, and headlights as the Tundra model. On top of that, the 2023 model is also expected to ride on the new TNGA-F platform shared with the Tundra, Land Cruiser, and LX.
There is plenty of rumor regarding this model, and one of them is that Toyota plans to merge the Hilux and Tacoma into a single model. The same architecture will also be used on the upcoming 4Runner SUV. As for the rear suspension setup, the manufacturer will this time switch to a multi-link layout with coil springs just like the Tundra.
Cabin Might Get the Tundra’s 14.0-inch Touchscreen
We have no idea right now what the inside of the new Tacoma will bring new. However, according to some gossips, the interior will probably draw inspiration from the larger Tundra. So, we can expect chunky styling elements, nicer materials, and modern features.
Like before, the upcoming Toyota Tacoma will be available in forms as the extended cab, crew cab, as well as a short and long-bed. In addition, we hope the back seat will be much roomier than the current crew cab. On the techs side, the manufacturer will likely replace the current 8.0-inch touchscreen with a bigger screen, possibly Toyota might use the Tundra’s 14.0-inch touchscreen. Along, the manufacturer as standard will offer Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

2023 Toyota Tacoma Engine Specs
Beneath the hood, the new 2023 Toyota Tacoma will introduce some changes. Reportedly, the manufacturer will likely replace a 3.5-liter V6 with the new turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, besides this engine, the next possibility is a 2.4-liter unit seen in the new Lexus NX 350. If that does happen, the new Tacoma could get a torque bump from 265 lb-ft to around 317 lb-ft. As for output, it would remain the same at around 275.
Toyota is obviously aiming at the turbocharged Ford Ranger, which puts out 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. As for the transmission, Toyota will continue to offer a 6-speed manual transmission as an option. Likely, it will provide a standard 8-speed auto or even a new 10-speed automatic available.
Release Date and Price
The redesigned 2023 Toyota Tacoma will feature many upgrades for the following year. Basically, it will share plenty of cues with the Tundra model. It should also introduce a more comfortable cabin and some of the new techs as well.
Toyota is still quiet about its engines, but reportedly, there will be some new units on the table. We can expect Toyota Tacoma to debut next year, while full reveals could happen in the coming months.
