The forthcoming 2022 Toyota Tacoma is getting further updates. Will new Tacoma remain one of the best-selling models in the U.S.? According to the latest reports, yes. Tacoma has been a subject of numerous speculations in the last few weeks. Many stories are even predicting the new-generation model. If that really happens, we can expect a complete redesign.
That also includes the interior overhaul and possibly a new engine. More precisely, a hybrid powertrain is the main rumor at the moment. Toyota is making Tacoma better year after year, and the new-gen model is the perfect answer for the markets. With that in mind, no doubt that the all-new 2022 Tacoma will remain one of the most reliable models in the pickup truck segment.

2022 Tacoma Exterior Redesign. Will it Happen?
Toyota provides a new-gen model every nine or ten years. For that reason, a new 2022 Toyota Tacoma is less likely to get a complete redesign. It is a rumor after all, but it could become a reality. We predict something closer to the mid-cycle refreshments. Surely, the total exterior revamp would be more welcoming, but we’ll have to wait a couple of years more. The current generation is on the market since 2016, so do the math by yourself.
On the other hand, the 2022 Tacoma will still gain a couple of essential updates. For a start, this pickup truck will arrive with small changes on the front fascia. Moreover, even the rear part should get new taillights. The bumpers will be enlarged as well, but not significantly. According to our sources, F1 architecture will underpin the 2022 model.

Interior Will Gain More Modernity
The cabin of the brand-new 2022 Toyota Tacoma will also gain mid-cycle improvements. The approaching mid-size pickup truck will get more high-quality materials, and the level of comfort will be higher this time. Furthermore, Toyota will look to deliver more technology. Thanks to that, a list of standard amenities will be longer than ever before.
An 8-inch display should be offered as standard. However, the base trim level should arrive with a new, larger, and optional unit. Upper trim levels, such as TRD PRO, will also provide more luxury. Exact interior details are not available at the moment. However, we bet on at least one new color scheme and possibly more driver-assistance features.

Engine Specs and Hybrid Rumors
A hybrid powertrain is the highlight of the latest speculation. It does make sense, to be honest. Toyota’s F1 platform can accommodate a hybrid system, so the rumors are looking realistic. The upcoming 2022 Toyota Tacoma could gain a diesel-hybrid combination, according to some stories.
Still, this is a wild guess at the moment, and only Toyota knows what will happen with the 2022 Tacoma. One thing is sure, Tacoma’s current engine lineup will most likely get more power and slightly improved fuel-efficiency. As always before, a 2.7-liter and 3.5-liter V6 engines should be in the offer.
2022 Toyota Tacoma Price and Release Date
In terms of price, the arriving 2022 Toyota Tacoma should cost slightly above the current model. The reason is the latest mid-cycle refreshments. That means we can expect for Tacoma to cost around $31,500. As for the release date, Toyota didn’t say anything about this matter. However, the most realistic time is the second half of 2022.
Toyota should make a 4 cylinder turbo engine for the Tacoma with 4 wheel drive on a base style truck
What is the release date on the 2022 Tacoma base model
They should lower the floorboards to make more leg room and feel more like a truck. I would have bought one if it didn’t have seating like a car.
Couple things Toyota needs to consider for redesign its future Tacoma:
1) keep the long or short bed at SAME configuration as model 2014 – (I have a $20,00 pop up camper on my 2014 taco 4×4 long bed, and want to buy the latest 2022+ Tacoma, but would NOT buy it if Toyota change its bed configuration- it will not fit)
2) make the driver seat higher
3)more power than the 3.5 litter, but consume less gas (check Chevrolet)
4) Trail, or TRD off road- in COUPLE COLOR option
Hope the new unit can be purchased with v6 manual transmission long box with leather trim this option should be available.
Taco needs a 8 speed tranny and possibly turbocharge…a turbo diesel would be awesome but highly unlikely . Looking @ ZR2 because of the diesel/torque
