Besides the Nightshade Edition, the Japanese automaker will provide further updates to its lineup. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition is one such a model for sure. This edition is based on the SR5 Double Cab trim level. Moreover, Toyota will sell 7,000 units, and we can expect this version this summer. Trail Edition is for those who seek more off-roading and outdoor adventures.
It comes with more capability, and it rides on a proven double-cab architecture. Under the hood, the Japanese manufacturer won’t introduce any changes. That means the existing V6 engine remains. However, Toyota will provide numerous exterior upgrades, more equipment, and small mechanical modifications.
Exterior Changes on the 2021 Tacoma Trail Edition
Just like the Nightshade Edition, the new 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition also features blacked-out parts. For a start, you’ll see stuff such as black grille, exterior badging, and similar cues. However, Trail Edition offers a different color palette. That includes Super White, Midnight Black, Cement, and Army Green.
Moreover, this version comes with a standard Dark Gray 18-inch TRD off-road wheels. Toyota is also offering a Kevlar all-terrain tires. The front grille is modified in a custom way, and it looks like anything we’ve seen before from Toyota.

Interior Features
If you go for the Trail Edition, you will get a very cool interior design. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition comes with black seats with tan stitching. On top of that, this variant offers all-weather floor liners. Thanks to that, the floor will be easier to clean. Unlike the Nightshade Edition, Trail Edition is based on the SR5 trim level and not Limited. For that reason, most of the premium equipment is optional.
Still, you will get a standard 115-volt power outlet and lockable bed storage boxes. We still don’t know how the new Tacoma will look on the inside. However, all of the novelties will be included in the Trail Edition model. Tacoma pickup could get a new 8-inch touchscreen, along with the new air vents and more standard equipment.
Proven V6 Gasoline is Available Once Again
The all-new 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will feature a reliable 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. Both Nightshade and Trail Edition are unchanged in this category. For that reason, proven V6 is available with 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, you can choose between a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
A two-wheel-drive setup comes as standard. However, a four-wheel-drive system is available and is optional. Tacoma Trail Edition can tow almost 7,000 pounds, and it sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. A hybrid powertrain is a possibility, but until its official, Trail Edition offers a single powertrain option.
