2021 Toyota Hilux Gets Drastic Refreshments

The all-new 2021 Toyota Hilux should arrive before the end of 2020. However, the Coronavirus outbreak could postpone its debut, so don’t be surprised if the Hilux model arrives in 2021. The upcoming Hilux will introduce plenty of changes. That includes various exterior updates and new features. Moreover, the interior will gain essential upgrades in the technology department.

However, the biggest change will happen under the bonnet. Rumors about the hybrid powertrain are still present, but this is unlikely to happen. Instead, Toyota will provide more power to its existing engine lineup. Hilux will remain one of the most popular trucks in the segment, and it will offer plenty of trim levels and special editions.

2021 Hilux Facelift

First photos of the new 2021 Toyota Hilux are available. The changes are not that significant as some speculation predicted. Still, a mid-cycle facelift will be more than enough for the Hilux truck that already looks modern and refreshed. The front fascia will get a new grille. Moreover, the headlights and front bumper are modified and are looking more modern.

As for the side profile, Hilux will arrive with more muscles, but the rear section shouldn’t change at all. Hilux will offer different special version such as Rugged, Rugged X, and Rogue in Australia. Some other markets will get different editions, but all of the editions are looking sportier and more aggressive.

Interior Improvements

The interior of the 2021 Toyota Hilux will look refreshed. The updates are more significant than on the inside. For a start, Hilux will arrive with new upholstery. On top of that, a larger display is available, and it will be optional in the base trim level. Toyota will update its infotainment system, and it will reduce the number of buttons inside the cabin.

The rest of the buttons will remain intact, including the seating layout. On the other hand, new air vents are in the offer, and the Japanese carmaker will introduce more chrome accents. Upper trim levels are full of luxury and standard equipment. So, if you want leather upholstery and some other amenities, range-topping versions are offering it as standard.

Hilux Gets More Power

The biggest upgrade for the 2021 Toyota Hilux is that extra power under the hood. The engine lineup remains, but Toyota will improve the performances. For a start, a 2.8-liter diesel is available, and it generates 200 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for a manual transmission, torque will drop to 350 lb-ft. Still, diesel engines gained an additional 25 horses and 40 lb-ft of twisting power.

2.4-liter gasoline with 150 hp is still available, but the customers are usually opting for a diesel option. As for the hybrid, speculations are still suggesting one. However, the Japanese manufacturer won’t offer a hybrid system in the near future. More details will become available in the coming weeks.
