The upcoming 2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel will bring additional upgrades. It will look the same as the base model, but the most significant update is a diesel engine. Tundra is present for years and it is one of the oldest pickup trucks in the U.S. Powerful, reliable and versatile, Tundra comes with a tradition and elegance.
The 2020 Tundra Diesel won’t suffer that much changes and upgrades. The shape will remain, along with the overall dimensions. Exterior will get further polishing and some slight changes. The cabin comes with ample headroom and legroom. The new model will offer a slightly more luxury than the current model. Besides the strong V8 gasoline, Tundra is now offering a V6 diesel powertrain as well.
2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel features the recognizable aggressive design
The 2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel will once again offer great design. This full-size pickup looks amazing, the styling is elegant and mean at the same time. The Japanese carmaker will try to deliver further upgrades. The bolder design will remain, but we can expect the all-new grille up front. On top of that, larger headlight units will be in the offer too. The honeycomb grille adds more chrome inserts and generally, the front end looks very modern.
Opting for higher trim will provide LED headlights and bumpers in body color. As always before, Tundra comes with numerous off-road gear options. Different skid plates are optional on the base model, along with the tow hooks. The current Tundra will introduce Sky Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic exterior colors.
2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel interior updates
Just like the exterior, the interior will also get minor updates. The forthcoming 2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel won’t change at all. The same interior layout is present as before. There is no difference between the gasoline and diesel models when it comes to interior. The only upgrades are tech-wise, which means the infotainment system will get an update. The gauge cluster is almost brand-new and it will stay intact. The cabin is comfortable thanks to upscale upholstery.
Even the cloth upholstery provides amazing comfort. Limited models are offering a real luxury that is hard to compete with. Leather seats, more wood, and chrome trims and larger displays are present. Most of the optional features become standard and you can forget about the hard plastics. When we mentioned the displays, a 7-inch unit is standard and the 10-inch touchscreen will be optional.
2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel powertrain
The biggest innovation is, of course, a diesel powertrain. The all-new 2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel will deploy a 3.5-liter V6 engine. This unit can produce up to 305 horses and 310 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine is smaller than the gasoline engine and it delivers less power.
However, fuel economy figures are better and the diesel variant is available with the 8-speed and 10-speed automatic transmission. The gasoline 5.7-liter V8 comes with a 6-speed automatic only. The V8 engine generates 380 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of twists. Importantly, a 4.6-liter V8 is no longer available.
2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel price and release date
The 2020 Toyota Tundra Diesel will cost around $4,000 over the price of the base gasoline model. The base model is priced at $32,000, so the Tundra Diesel will be available for about $36,000. Opting for the Limited or TRD Pro models will cost you over $50,000. The 2020 Tundra will hit the dealerships at the start of 2020.
