It looks like the famous truck is about to get a new, oil-burner version, which is about to come as 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel. Currently, in the third generation, this model is the most popular mid-size truck on the market. Characterized by Toyota recognizable quality, it offers an amazing value for the price. The current generation is present since 2015. So, we could consider that the next year is perfect for some updates. Expect its arrival in the second half of the year.

2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel redesign

Speaking in general about design, it is pretty clear that the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will come with the same base characteristics as gasoline models. It will ride on the same chassis, feature same look, and interior design. Still, it is important to mention that the upcoming model is about to receive an update, which should include various changes. First of all, there are some visual tweaks. Latest reports suggest that the new model will adopt Toyota’s global corporate look, which means a similar front end to the iconic Hilux.

Once again, we don’t believe that the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will feature many distinguish details. Moreover, we expect to see pretty much the same dashboard. Of course, expect a new instrument cluster, adapted for the upcoming diesel engine. Rest of the cabin should remain pretty much the same. Speaking of equipment, we believe that the new version will be also offered in familiar trim levels, with a similar list of standard features.

Also, we would like to mention that the company is preparing a completely new trim called TRD Pro. Don’t count on a diesel engine in this variant, since it will be offered exclusively with the famous V6 gasoline engine. Besides a unique list of standard equipment, this model will also feature numerous distinguish details, both in styling and mechanics. This will be a hi-performance off-road version, so expect a new suspension, off-road tires etc. Also, expect many styling details that will accentuate this off-road character.

2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel engine

This will be the most important novelty for the next year. Still, we are not 100% sure which engine will find its place under the hood. Of course, we will go for a more efficient 2.8-liter engine. It delivers around 177 horsepower and comes in a pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

On the other side, there is a little bit older 3.0-liter engine, which delivers slightly less power, around 163 horses, but features amazing reliability and durability. Still, a little bit outdated 5-speed automatic gearbox that comes with this excellent engine could be the main reason why the company should go for a smaller 2.8-liter unit.

  1. When this truck lands,I’ll be trading in my 14 Double Cab Ltd,please email me when it’s about to arrive!!!!!😎😎😎

  2. Very excited to see the diesel version. Can’t wait since I can retire my 2008 Tacoma now. Just passed 486,000 on the 2008 so a new 2020 Diesel would be a welcome not to mention timely replacement.
