Skoda Kodiaq Pickup and RS Variant Could Soon Become Reality

Skoda Kodiaq Pickup is still an idea that is present for a couple of years. However, the idea could become a reality in 2020. According to the latest speculations, Czech automaker is working on its newest model. Unfortunately, none of the Skoda’s concept has reached the production so far.

Interestingly, Skoda had a pickup truck in its respective lineup two decades ago. The best part about the arriving pickup is that it will be based on the Kodiaq RS SUV. It will look sporty and aggressive. Under the hood, we expect a 2.0-liter turbo engine that will produce almost 250 horsepower. Kodiaq Pickup based on the Kodiaq RS SUV is similar to the Ford’s Raptor variant in so many ways.

The exterior design of the all-new Skoda Kodiaq Pickup looks simply amazing. Of course, it is still speculation, but new renderings are helping us to realize how could this model could be. According to numerous reports, Kodiaq will arrive as a mid-size pickup truck. It looks fun, sporty and aggressive. And while based on the SUV model, pickup will be more rugged, logically.

The bed isn’t that look, at least not on the renderings. Almost all of the design elements are the same as on the SUV model. That includes the same taillights, character lines, and even the side panels. Wheels are larger, but not significantly. Unfortunately, the front part is not visible on the rendering photos. However, the Kodiaq RS SUV comes with the gloss-black grille and sporty bumpers. We can expect the same elements on the pickup model.

The interior details are not available. However, Skoda Kodiaq Pickup will be based on the RS SUV model. That means the pickup variant will get plenty of sportiness. Alcantara seats and the red diamond-cross stitching is a must. The contrast stitching will be on the dash, doors, and seats.

Also, a flat-bottom steering wheel will be in the offer. Expect plenty of carbon-fiber materials and the stainless steel pedal. The instrument cluster will be very modern and pickup model will get a new Sport mode. The interior room will be generous, just like on the SUV model. Unfortunately, we still have to wait for the official details.

The all-new Skoda Kodiaq Pickup will have to offer at least two powertrain options. The first one will be the same engine that powers the Kodiaq RS SUV. That means a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine will be standard. This unit provides 240 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, the engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The all-wheel-drive configuration will probably be optional. Also, the engine comes with a new adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control. Kodiaq Pickup will arrive with numerous driving modes. That includes modes such as Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual and Snow. Optional engine will have to be a powerful V6 gasoline engine. There are so many rumors about the possible gasoline output at the moment.

There is no word about the pricing yet. However, new Skoda Kodiaq Pickup will surely cost slightly above the SUV model. Further details are expected in the second half of 2019. If the idea becomes a reality, we can expect this model in a two-year time.
