Dimensions

It is an interesting topic. New 2021 Rivian R1T is not as big as the full-size models. Still, it is larger the trucks in the mid-size segment. This pickup offers a 135.8 inches long wheelbase and it is available in crew cab only. Just to compare, Ram 1500 is rated at 144.6 inches and Honda Ridgeline at 125.2 inches. But here is the thing.

Rivian R1T also offers a double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspensions. Thanks to that, height-adjustable air springs can significantly raise or lower the height. In normal circumstances, this pickup offers 11 inches of ground clearance. You can shrink that to 9.4 inches or raise to 14.2 inches. Still, the 2021 R1T is 6 inches longer than the mentioned Ridgeline model.

Rivian R1T Power and Driving Range

The upcoming 2021 Rivian R1T will ride on a skateboard platform. This architecture contains four electric motors, battery pack and the suspension. Each motor delivers 147 kilowatts and total output is rated at 562 kW. That is 753 horsepower. How cool is that? The good thing about having four motors is the acceleration and torque vectoring. In that way, Rivian will avoid locking differentials. As for the battery packs, they will be offered in three different sizes.

Ultimately, that means three different driving ranges. Rivian said the two battery packs will be in the offer right from the beginning. A 135 kWh pack will provide around 300 miles and 180 kWh pack over 400 miles. Rivian promised for its R1T pickup to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds. That is a supercar figure. Moreover, towing capacity will be rated at 11,000 pounds. R1T will charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes on a DC fast charger.

Interior Features and Storage

From the inside, a new 2021 Rivian R1T will deliver leather and wood materials. Large displays are in the offer, along with the impressive safety features. Even the cabin will look futuristic and packed with the latest systems and features. The manufacturer also said that Level 3 autonomy is in the works. However, the highlight of the interior will be storage. The all-electric pickup has no engine upfront. Rivian will use this area to create the front trunk. On top of that, R1T pickup will get a “gear tunnel”. It is a lockable space behind the cab and under the bed.
