The all-new 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will finally be in the offer. This pickup truck is about to arrive. Ram claims that the EcoDiesel engine will make new Ram 1500 the most powerful half-ton diesel pickup in the U.S. It is a reworked 3.0-liter V6 unit that will surely deliver better performances.
Apart from that, the 2020 Ram 1500 will arrive with exterior changes. This pickup will ride on a lighter frame. Interior will be additionally improved as well. Despite all innovations, hybrid drivetrain remains the highlight of the latest model.
2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Improved Body
Ram plans to introduce numerous changes on its newest pickup truck. For the start, the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel comes with a new frame. This frame is made of high-strength steel and aluminum. It is lighter than the previous frame and this will surely improve the fuel economy. The front fascia comes with a large air dam and the six-sided grille. The iconic crosshair grille is no longer available.
Huge “RAM” lettering will sit in the middle of the new grille. LED headlights are standard now. On the other hand, adaptive headlights are still optional. In the back, taillights will also get LED lightbulbs. 16-inch wheels are still a standard option on the base Ram 1500 model. However, you can optionally buy larger wheels that are ranged from 18 to 22-inches. A two-tone exterior scheme is optional once again and Ram will deliver some new exterior colors.
Interior Refreshments
The interior of the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will gain some redesign. Interior was intact for years, so this is a first drastic upgrade for this pickup. As always before, there will be a lot of trim levels. Each trim level will determine the level of luxury inside the cabin. The diesel model will not depart from the regular gasoline variant in any category. The base model will now offer more soft-touch surfaces.
Upholstery from the inside looks and feels more upscale. A UConnect system is updated and it now comes with a larger 12-inch display. Navigation, Bluetooth and additional USB ports are all standards. On the other hand, premium Harman Kardon audio system is still optional. Ram is offering ample legroom and new reclining seats are very comfortable.
2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Powertrain and Towing Specs
The all-new 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel is the latest addition in the Ram’s rich lineup of engines. The diesel unit is producing 260 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. Ram said that the all-new engine will make its 1500 model the most powerful half-ton diesel pickup in the United States.
It makes sense as 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel provides a 14-percent increase in terms of torque. This pickup can tow up to 12,600 pounds now. Unfortunately, new hybrid drivetrain stole the spotlight from the EcoDiesel V6. In the hybrid version, the electric motor will provide 90 additional horses. Furthermore, the number of torque will jump to 90 or 130 lb-ft of torque. Besides that, a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline unit is still a standard engine option. It generates 305 HP and 270 lb-ft of twist.
Price and Release Date
The price of the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will start at $33,000. The base gasoline-powered Ram 1500 costs $28,000. Company’s latest half-ton pickup will go on sale in the last quarter of 2019. Ram will release more details about this model in the coming weeks.
