The mid-size truck market is live again in North America, so 2019 Ram Rampage is on its way. After several years of stagnation, this segment is active once again. Although full-size trucks are still undisputable when it comes to sales numbers, there are also many drivers who would prefer something smaller. U.S. manufacturer started to offer these vehicles after several years of break. Chevy Colorado was the first one to come back to the market, while new-generation Ford Ranger is on its way again. Logically, it is Ram’s turn.
The company is going to introduce an all-new model. A mid-size truck with high capabilities, but great comfort as well, is a priority for the next year. This manufacturer is experienced in making great trucks, so there shouldn’t be a problem to develop vehicle like this. The 2019 Rampage should come next year. A more precise date is yet to come.
2019 Ram Rampage design
The arrival of the new mid-size truck is almost certain, but we are not completely sure about its base design characteristics. To remind you, the original Rampage was produced during the 80’s. Still, it was more pickup than a truck, featuring unibody platform and small size. On the other side, the 2019 Ram Rampage is expected to compete with numerous mid-size trucks on the market. To be capable enough, this model should ride on a classic body-on-frame platform. Since Ram is a part of FCA, finding a perfect architecture should be much easier.
According to several reports, the new 2019 Ram Rampage will use the same platform as new-generation Wrangler, which came just recently. Since Jeep prepares a pickup version of the iconic SUV, everything should go pretty smooth. An inside joint venture of these two brands could bring plenty of benefits.
2019 Ram Rampage styling and interior design
Although in the early stage of development, we are pretty sure how the 2019 Ram Rampage will look like, at least in general. The new Ram 1500 is here, so we expect from a mid-size truck to adopt the same design language. Of course, there will be some distinctive details, but the core will be pretty much the same. The 2019 Ram Rampage might come with smaller dimensions, but overall shape will resemble closely. More precisely, it should be a Ram 1500 in a smaller package.
On the other side, interior design should be a little bit different. We are expecting to see a new dashboard design, which would be a little bit more car-like, which is usual for this class. Smoother lines and softer materials are some of the new things to come. On the other side, expect a full load of standard equipment, including latest infotainment system etc.
2019 Ram Rampage engines
We expect no surprises when it comes to the powertrain. The 2019 Ram Rampage will use FCA’s familiar units, at least two of them.
The base engine will certainly be a familiar 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar, with a max output around 285 horses and 260 pound-feet of torque.
Also, there is a big chance to see a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the offer. This is a new engine from the manufacturer, characterized by great efficiency. Its total output goes around 270 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will come in a pair with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
Some reports also suggest a diesel engine in the offer. So, we could expect to see a familiar 3.0-liter V6 from VM Motori, which delivers around 260 horses and 440 pound-feet of torque.
2019 Ram Rampage release date and price
The 2019 Ram Rampage should come somewhere in the next year, but we still don’t know a more precise launch date. Base models should go around 20.000 dollars.
