The mid-size pickup truck will get a futuristic styling. Not many details are available at the moment, but Nissan did confirm a redesign. On top of that, the 2021 Nissan Frontier will grow in size. On top of that, Frontier won’t use new Navara’s platform. Frontier will continue to ride on the existing underpinnings but it will suffer small modifications.

The platform will remain the same in terms of using leaf springs for the rear axle. The exterior will look aggressive and both ends will get significant changes. However, we expect this model to continue with standard 16-inch alloy wheels. Both the grille and headlights will be all-new, along with the taillights. Also, Nissan will introduce new exterior paints.

From the inside, the 2021 Nissan Frontier will get new interior design. The cabin will look subtle and more modern than before. Nissan will most likely borrow some stuff from other company’s models, especially SUVs. The layout will be all-new and we expect a higher level of comfort. On top of that, Nissan promised more practical interior.

We are still not sure which cab configurations will be in the offer. However, King Cab and Crew Cab models are certain. Leather seats will remain optional, along with some other premium amenities. On the other hand, Nissan will focus on the base trim level that will look more upscale than the current model.

Powertrain Changes

The Japanese automaker will offer a new V6 engine. This engine won’t be optional, it will replace the existing 4.0-liter V6. The current engine offers a 5-speed automatic transmission.

However, new V6 will arrive with a 7-speed automatic gearbox. And while the current Frontier is producing 265 HP, the 2021 Nissan Frontier will provide 300 HP.

Towing Capacity and Fuel Rating

New powertrain will also provide a better tow rating, better than the current 6,500 pounds. Also, increased fuel economy rating is another huge plus. With new styling, new engine, and transmission, Frontier is definitely ready for the bigger stage.
