With the return of Ford Ranger and improved versions of Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado, Nissan is also raising the game. That means we can expect further improvements on the Frontier pickup. The 2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel is almost certain and it will also introduce additional innovations.
However, diesel powertrain should be a highlight of the 2020 model. Frontier will remain very affordable mid-size pickup truck. Also, it is a versatile model as well. With its Pro-4x version, we could say that Frontier is a complete package that delivers it all. The gasoline engine will remain and Nissan promised a more practical version. Comfort is great and you can buy Frontier in numerous trim levels and configurations.
2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel Is More Aggressive and More Modern
Nissan will give its Frontier model further refreshments. The upcoming model will look more aggressive and more modern. Whatsoever, Frontier already looks rugged for a mid-size pickup truck segment. On the other hand, the side profile still offers a subtle design. We still think that the optional 16-inch alloy wheels are more than recommendable. Up front, the sharper look is present and it looks meaner than before. Headlights and grille will stay intact, whatsoever.
The 2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel won’t depart from the base gasoline model at all. The Japanese automaker will introduce a couple of new exterior colors. The mid-size pickup will also get new off-road equipment that will be optional. However, if you want to use Frontier for off-roading adventures, we strongly recommend the Pro-4x model.
The forthcoming 2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel will introduce numerous interior updates. The interior won’t be changed at all and the cabin is literally an upgrade of the current model. That includes a new version of the NissanConnect infotainment system. Also, some optional features are standard now.
The cabin is very modern and the design is similar to the design of the company’s sedans. Nissan said the interior of the 2020 Frontier will be more modern and practical. The layout will surely remain. The customers can still choose between the King Cab and Crew Cab configurations. Overall interior room is generous and comfort is very satisfying. However, the leather upholstery is still optional.
Powertrain Details and Towing Rate
The 2020 Frontier will still offer the same two gasoline engines that are already in the offer. That means the 2.5-liter engine comes as standard and it produces 155 HP and 175 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, a 4.0-liter V6 is available and it generates 265 horses and 285 lb-ft of torque. The optional powertrain comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and it can tow up to 6,500 pounds.
However, the diesel engine is about to arrive. The 2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel is on the way to the United States. Nissan refused to provide further details about the news. The most likely candidate is a 2.3-liter diesel unit that powers the Navara model, Frontier’s sibling. Also, in some markets, Nissan offers a 2.5-liter diesel engine. This engine gives 26 mpg combined. We are still not sure which engine will find its place under the hood of new Frontier pickup.
2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel Price and Debut
The 2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel will cost slightly more than the regular gasoline model. The base variant of the mid-size pickup truck will cost around $20,000. However, the diesel version will surely cost slightly below $25,000.
Despite the updates, Frontier remains a very affordable model in the mid-size pickup segment. New Frontier will go on sale in the last quarter of 2019.
