The forthcoming 2020 Mitsubishi Triton has been spotted and the spy shots are available. This truck rides on its fifth generation and it will bring some upgrades. The upgrades are a part of a mid-cycle refresh as the sixth-generation could arrive in 2021. The front part will suffer the most and that includes the headlights and running lights. The new grille is also visible. Unfortunately, we still don’t know what will happen to the interior and if the new engine will happen.
Triton pickup truck is extremely popular in Australia and Asia. Three body styles are available, along with two diesel engines and single gasoline output. This model will go on sale in the USA as well, under the name “Mitsubishi L200”. Towing ability is great, along with the fuel economy figures and overall performance is astonishing.
2020 Mitsubishi Triton comes with the new grill
The exterior upgrades of the newest pickup truck are visible. The 2020 Mitsubishi Triton will get a new face. This time, Mitsu decides to split the headlights and running lights and give them a redesign. Splitting those features created a space for the light strips which is a very modern styling cue for a pickup truck.
Furthermore, new grille is available and it is narrower than the current grille. Lower air intake now sits higher than before and the hood will suffer some changes as well. The side profile won’t suffer any changes but the rear end could get a new pair of taillights. The rear bumper looks smaller and the wheels are very attractive and stylish.
2020 Mitsubishi Triton interior arriving with the minor updates
The 2020 Mitsubishi Triton offers one of the best interiors in its respective segment. Sadly, we don’t know how much the cabin will suffer. The 2018 model got significant interior changes and upgrades so the 2020 Triton will probably arrive with minor updates.
It will be interesting to see if the Mitsubishi provides some new styling cues, or maybe even different layout of the controls. Generally, the interior is looking upscale and comfortable. The feel inside the cabin is pleasing and it is for sure one of the most premium interiors in Triton’s class.
2020 Mitsubishi Triton powertrain offers
This pickup truck will keep its powertrain options. That includes two diesel engines and one gasoline unit. The standard engine is still a 2.4-liter MIVEC four-cylinder diesel unit. It can generate up to 180 horses and 320 lb-ft of torque. The first optional drivetrain is a 2.5-liter turbodiesel that returns 175 hp and a 2.4-liter gasoline delivers 140 HP.
However, those two optional engines could get a slight boost in terms of torque numbers. All engines are using a 6-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system that is optional.
Fuel consumption and towing capacity
If you want great mileage numbers, opt for the gasoline unit that delivers 32 mpg in the city. On the other hand, standard diesel unit can tow almost 7000 pounds.
2020 Mitsubishi Triton price and release date
The price of the all-new 2020 Mitsubishi Triton starts at $33,000. Expect this pickup truck to hit the Australian and Asian markets at the end of 2019. The U.S. markets will get L200 pickup in the first half of 2020.
