The all-new 2020 Mitsubishi L200 is confirmed and it will hit the markets on November 9th. We saw the newest teaser of the L200 pickup. It is a distant image that isn’t showing all of the upgrades, but we can see the newest company’s design language. The Dynamic Shield design language is visible and the new pickup will look extremely modern and stylish.
We can expect some tweaks under the hood, but we are still waiting for Mitsu to release an official statement. Whatsoever, Mitsubishi will introduce plenty of changes and the reason is the 40th anniversary of the model. If “L200” doesn’t mean nothing to you, “Triton” is perhaps a more popular name. Triton is the Asian version of L200 and this pickup will firstly arrive in Asia.
2020 Mitsubishi L200 Offers Multiple Body Styles
Thanks to a few new images available, we can conclude the 2020 Mitsubishi L200 will arrive with significant upgrades. That means the exterior will be improved and the pickup will look more modern as a result. Mitsu’s newest Dynamic Shield design language is visible at first glance. Dynamic Shields offers a more angular approach, universal design, and modern styling.
The arriving pickup is showing toughness and elegance at the same time. There will be multiple body styles in the offer. However, U.S. markets won’t get a single cab configuration. The front end is stretched more and Dynamic Shield will provide new headlights. The running lights are vertical, similar to the ones at the Outlander SUV model.
2020 Mitsubishi L200 Interior Equipment
The interior is still a big mystery for everyone. There is not a single detail available at the moment. However, significant upgrades should continue from the inside as well. We can expect more comfort thanks to the heavier use of premium materials.
The 2020 Mitsubishi L200 will arrive with the upgraded infotainment system and we can expect more standard safety equipment. The layout should stay intact but we can expect further changes on the dashboard. Whatsoever, L200 offers one of the best interiors in the segment and we can only expect improvements.
2020 Mitsubishi L200 Powertrain
The 2020 Mitsubishi L200 will be a global model. That means the L200 and Asian “Triton” variant won’t arrive with the same engine lineup. Mitsu said something about the “Enhanced Performance” which could lead us to the new powertrain option. But for now, all we can do is speculate.
The current L200 model offers two diesel variants. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel is standard and it produces 178 horses and 320 lb-ft of torque. A 2.5-liter should remain optional and it will provide slightly more power and better fuel efficiency. A 6-speed automatic transmission will be standard once again and we can expect slight towing improvements.
