The approaching 2019 Mitsubishi L200 is ready to hit the markets in the coming months. This pickup truck presents a fifth-generation and some upgrades are on the line. This pickup is famous worldwide, and if “L200” doesn’t sound familiar, perhaps “Triton” is more famous nameplate.
This model is available in almost all of the Mitsubishi’s markets, and it carries various names such as Triton and Strada. For 2019, few styling changes are expected, just like improved interior and of course, better performance. Three body styles are on the offer next to two diesel engines and one gasoline unit.
2019 Mitsubishi L200 will ride on the same platform
The all-new 2019 Mitsubishi L200 comes with a couple of styling tweaks, however, this pickup will ride on the same platform as before. The styling is not evolving, even that we are speaking about fifth-generation already. Furthermore, both styling and platform proved reliable so no significant changes are needed.
Plenty of swoopy lines runs all over the L200’s body and the aerodynamics are great. A bumper is now wider and there is a new set of wheels available. The chassis now comes with more high-strength steel and the handling is better. The ride feels smooth thanks to the slightly retuned suspension. It also comes with the same Dynamic Shield design elements that are also present in model Pajero Sport. Furthermore, the newest model will be a mix of Eclipse Cross and Expander.
2019 Mitsubishi L200 Interior is visually better
The interior of the forthcoming 2019 Mitsubishi L200 is improved a lot. There is plenty of refinement inside the cabin and we must say that the L200 model is ready to compete with more famous rivals in the interior segment. The materials are upscale and the comfort is better as a result. The surfaces are soft and it feels premium. It will also get some features that are present in model Nissan’s Navara NP300.
The visibility is better than ever, and the seats are positioned in that way so the driver has a good specter and outward view. The infotainment system is also new and some optional features are now standard. It comes with a 6.1-inch touchscreen as standard and 7-inch touch screen as optional. Also, features like a manual or automatic dual zone climate control, premium sound system, leather seats, navigation and more will be present. We also expect this model to come with same four levels of trims: Exceed, GLS, GLX and GLX Plus.
The safety features are better too, and overall, the L200 model will benefit from all the features in a long term. The standard package NACP configuration and enhanced airbags. There is also an ESC or electronic stability control, rollover control, rearview camera, side impact beams and many more.
2019 Mitsubishi L200 will be offered with three engine options
The new 2019 Mitsubishi L200 will arrive with three engine options. The base engine is a turbodiesel 2.4-liter MIVEC unit with four cylinders. This mill is capable of producing up to 180 HP and 320 lb-ft of torque.
The second choice is another turbodiesel engine. A 2.5-liter drivetrain returns 176 HP, while the gasoline 2.4-liter engine burst 140 HP. All three engines are available with a 6-speed gearbox and with an all-wheel-drive setup.
Fuel Economy and Towing Capacity
Fuel economy is now better thanks to an all-aluminum MIVEC’s diesel engine. With the 2.4-liter engine that burst 140 HP, the 2019 L200 comes with the fuel economy of 32 mpg. As a result, towing capacity is increased to 6800 pounds. The new model also comes with Hill Assist system and plenty of features to make towing easier.
2019 Mitsubishi L200 Price and release date
The upcoming 2019 Mitsubishi L200, or “Triton” will cost around $33,500. On the other hand, there is no official release date yet, however, we can expect new L200 to go on sale later this year.
This pickup will firstly hit the European and Asian dealerships, and there is a possibility of expanding the sale on the American soil.
