2021 Mazda BT50 Gets Additional Upgrades

The forthcoming 2021 Mazda BT50 is almost ready to hit the dealerships once again. The 2020 BT50 will be a new-gen model and 2021 BT50 will build on that. The next-gen model will get a tougher look, more muscles, and better interior. Mazda plans to bring its pickup truck closer to the CX-5 crossover SUV.

Knowing that, the newest upgrades will be oriented towards the CX-5 model. Still, BT50 pickup is still not certain for the U.S. markets. On top of that, the new 2021 model will borrow some cues from its sibling, Isuzu D-Max.

New Design Language

The previous model was a total fluke. There have been so many reasons for the customers to avoid this pickup truck. Its Nagare design language didn’t fit into a pickup truck at all. However, the 2021 Mazda BT50 will be completely different. It will wear the company’s famous Kodo design language. On top of that, plenty of styling cues are shared with the Isuzu D-Max pickup. On top of that, Mazda will look to deliver some cues from the CX-5 crossover SUV.

So, we can expect a more SUV-like appearance with a more rugged styling and modern look. For 2021, BT50 will get only a couple of exterior modifications. Furthermore, we can expect more standard equipment this time. 16-inch wheels will remain standard and we could see larger grille and bumpers.

Comfortable and Modern Interior

The arriving pickup truck should be offered in numerous trim levels. That will determine the level of luxury from the inside. The 2021 Mazda BT50 will definitely look better than its predecessor. The base trim level will offer more standard features and the comfort will be great. Once again, the CX-5 crossover SUV will have a great impact on the cabin of the new pickup. For that reason, upper trim levels will offer a lot of luxury and everything from the inside is more SUV-like.

Pretty good start. BT50 model will offer both two-door and four-door versions. You don’t have to worry about the interior legroom and headroom. Cabin space is very generous and the interior will benefit from the new upholstery. Tech-wise, Mazda plans to offer more safety and driver-assistance aids. A 7.8-inch touchscreen remains standard and the infotainment system will get all of the important updates.

2021 BT50 Diesel and Gasoline Engines

Brand-new 2021 Mazda BT50 will continue to ride on its 3.2-liter diesel engine. This five-cylinder turbodiesel generates 200 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. If the reports are true, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder is the only gasoline option. This SkyActiv powertrain is capable of producing 185 horses and 285 lb-ft of twist. Some reports are even suggesting a 3.0-liter that powers the Isuzu D-Max pickup.

No doubt, it is another likely outcome for BT50. This powertrain can return 180 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. No matter which engine you opt for, a front-wheel-drive system is offered as standard. The power will go through the 6-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Mazda BT50 Price and Release Date

Because of the previous mistakes, Mazda can’t afford another miss. For that reason, the 2021 Mazda BT50 will be an affordable model that will cost around $29,000. Thanks to the numerous trim levels, upper trims will surely cost over $40,000.

New BT50 pickup will look to rival Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux, and VW Amarok. Still, this pickup won’t arrive in the U.S. At least not in the next year or two.
