The spy shots of the new 2022 Jeep Gladiator reveals some mild updates. Many reports stated that the redesigned version is on the way, and it should hit the markets later this year. Like the famous Wrangler SUV, the Jeep Gladiator continues to wear almost identical design styling. However, Gladiator adds some additional cues featuring more attractive front fascia and some mechanical improvements as well.
Under the bonnet, the second-generation pickup truck will most likely use the same powertrain as its predecessor. That means there should be two engine options, including base 3.6-liter V-6 and the optional diesel 3.0-liter V-6.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Changes
The first spy photos of the 2022 Jeep Gladiator reveals some mild upgrades compared to the outgoing truck. First thing first, the upcoming model looks the same as its predecessor, wearing the Jeep’s famous classic design language. Generally, Gladiator is a Jeep Wrangler, dressed with a cab option. Dimensionally, the new Gladiator remains the same, with the boxy shape. This pickup features an attractive 7-slot grille, rounded LED headlights, foldable windshield, and removable doors.
The base Sport trim offers 17-inch steel wheels, a body-colored grille, and cargo bed lighting. However, 3-piece body-colored hardtop comes as optional, while the soft top is standard. The Mojave and Rubicon versions are the most equipped, featuring many additional features than the rest of the models. Both exclusively come with larger fender flares and bigger all-terrain tires.
Inside, the refreshed 2022 Jeep Gladiator should be more modern. At this time, there are no available photos inside. However, from many reports, the new Gladiator will keep the same seating layout, adding more comfort. The Gladiator Sport trim comes with equipment that is pretty basic, but it still offers a long list of them. The base trim includes cloth upholstery, a soft folding top, and the same 5-inch infotainment display.
However, choosing some of the upper trims, for example, Overland, you’ll get a 7-inch infotainment touch screen, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support. The pinnacle of Jeeps offers is a Rubicon version. This trim is the most equipped, featuring an 8.4-inch touchscreen, stitched seats with lettering, and much more amenities.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Under the Hood
Like the outgoing model, the forthcoming 2022 Jeep Gladiator will probably deploy the same engines. Precisely there are two engine options. The first powertrain powers the base model, and it consists of a potent 3,6-liter V-6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, Jeep also offers an optional diesel 3.0-liter V6 unit that can generate 260 horses and 442 lb-ft of twist. This engine is the most efficient in the city/highway fuel economy of 22/28 mpg (Sport, Overland), 20/25 mpg (Rubicon). Both models are offered with eider the standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic.
Release Date and Price
The latest 2022 Jeep Gladiator should be fully unveiled sometime this year. More than likely, it will hit the markets in the first quartal of 2022. However, the pricing will most likely be slightly higher, considering a list of changes.
The current generation starts at $35,000 and can go up to nearly $60,000 for the fully equipped version. In the same class and pricing range are the models such as Toyota Tacoma TRD and the Ford Ranger.
