New Jeep Gladiator is about to arrive. However, the real deal will happen next year. It seems like many fans are anticipating the 2021 Jeep Gladiator for numerous reasons. However, the main reason is the diesel engine. The 2020 model will most likely hit the dealerships with gasoline option exclusively.
However, reliable reports are suggesting new diesel powertrain. The body-on-frame pickup will be a Jeep Wrangler in the truck disguise. However, besides diesel powertrain, 2021 Gladiator shouldn’t introduce any major changes.
2021 Jeep Gladiator Design, Dimensions
The forthcoming 2021 Jeep Gladiator will continue to ride on its 137-inch long wheelbase. While Gladiator shares plenty of stuff with Wrangler SUV, this is still 20-inches longer wheelbase. Unfortunately, this pickup is available in only one cab configuration and it is a crew cab four-door variant. There will be four trim levels so you can expect customizable pickup once again.
Styling is clearly Wrangler-like and it looks great. Removable roof panels and folding windshield are available as well. Thanks to that, Gladiator will become the very first open-air pickup truck. The base model comes with the same ground clearance as most of its competitors. A five-link rear suspension is in the offer and it will surely deliver better ride quality. A five-foot bed is standard and wide tailgate is visible at first glance. Interestingly, you can choose between three different roof configurations.
High-Tech Amenities
From the inside, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator could introduce minor tech updates. Besides that, we don’t expect any type of changes. Whatsoever, the cabin looks fresh and comfort is great. There is no need for radical changes at the moment, that’s for sure. Gladiator offers room for five persons and it provides a very modern cabin.
Most of the high-tech amenities will be up to date. A 5-inch display is standard and it seems too small. The rest of the competition is offering a 7-inch display as standard. Whatsoever, the 7-inch unit is optional. This is something Jeep will need to improve as soon as possible. Lockable storages, wi-fi speakers and leather upholstery are all optional. Gladiator will arrive with the roof panels that are very practical and easy to take off.
2021 Jeep Gladiator Engine
The all-new 2021 Jeep Gladiator will continue to offer is reliable 3.6-liter V6. The same engine powers numerous Jeep’s models and that includes the Wrangler SUV. It produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, the highlight of the new model will be a new diesel option.
Many fans will avoid the 2020 model in favor of 2021 Gladiator. Of course, the main reason is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. If the reports are true, this output will generate around 260 horses and 445 lb-ft of torque.
With such a great level of torque, the 2021 Gladiator will tow almost 8,000 pounds. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is in the offer along with the 6-speed manual transmission.
Price and Release Date
The arriving mid-size pickup truck will start at around $31,000. That means the 2021 Jeep Gladiator will retain its price.
The diesel variant will be optional and it will cost slightly more. The sales of the 2021 Gladiator will start in the second half of 2020 and there will be four trim levels.
