Developing a new engine could cost Honda a lot of money. Borrowing the engine from another model could be a realistic option. But the most probable outcome will be the existing engine with the turbocharger. That will include an updated direct-injection fuel system, along with the new VTEC system.
With those upgrades, the new Honda Ridgeline Type R could produce up to 450 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Those figures are astonishing, and on top of that, less weight and better aerodynamics could do wonders for the mid-size pickup. Of course, Type R without all-wheel-drive setup is unimaginable.
2020 Honda Ridgeline Type R price and release date
Some reports are saying the Honda Ridgeline Type R will cost from $5,000 to $7,000 over the price of the Black Edition trim. This trim starts at $44,000 so the Type R will become available for about $50,000 or slightly below. This high-performance truck will hit the markets at the beginning of 2020.
