Not every truck you see on the roads these days can match the 2019 Honda Ridgeline. It may not be the top-selling midsized truck but the Ridgeline has become popular since its launch a few years back.
It is not a truck meant for extreme off-roading and neither is it a towing champion. However, the Ridgeline treads a fine balance between price and functionality that others struggle to match. The 2019 model comes with some modifications that actually enhance its versatility.
2019 Honda Ridgeline Body Changes
You will find it hard to find a pickup truck that is based on crossover-type unibody platform these days as most units are built on body-on-frame chassis. However, the new Ridgeline is an exception.
It now is sold in seven trim levels thus giving buyers plenty of choices. Sport trim is now sold in two new hues- Lunar Silver Metallic and cool White Diamond Pearl. The design similarities with popular Pilot crossover still exist. The same thing can be said about its cabin too.
2019 Honda Ridgeline Interior Design
While the cabin is not exactly lavish it is somewhat better designed and upscale compared to typical competing mid-range pickup trucks. The dashboard has a wing shape and the controls.
The cabin also remains really quiet. The interior is little lower if we look at most trucks. It is spacious and Honda has managed to tuck in enough storage bins and cubbies.
The reinforced bed has UV-treated plastic material. One can opened tailgate in two ways- which is handy. However, the dry storage pocket can also keep a 400-watt power inverter. An under-bed trunk is also a cooler. You can keep beverages or wet clothes in it with ease.
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline gets good safety features and included amenities are decent. The Black edition trim offers enough lavish features. However, the weak spot in the entire setup is the Honda Link infotainment setup. All trims get keyless start, Bluetooth, 18-inch alloy wheels, USB, rearview camera, Dual-Action tailgate.
In top trims, you get HondaLink infotainment system, interior ambient lighting, heated front seats and leather upholstery. The Black Edition gets red ambient lighting. Furthermore, the Honda Sensing suite of safety features works well.
2019 Honda Ridgeline Engine
The 2019 Ridgeline will have a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which makes 280 HP. This unit comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is peppy though not most powerful in this segment.
The ride quality is almost crossover like and body roll is minimal. Highway and urban driving is its forte but it is not a truck you will want to use for off-roading extensively.
2019 Honda Ridgeline Fuel Economy and Towing Capacity
Fuel economy is also decent. The model will provide EPA city/highway fuel economy of 19/26 mpg for the FWD and 18/25 mpg for the AWD. The AWD version can tow up to 5000 pounds which is average.
2019 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid
We must update this blog with the new information that comes about the Hybrid version. According to some speculations, the manufacturer will bring Hybrid version in this year model. The new 2019 Honda Ridgeline will be equipped with 3.0 L V6 engine and three-motor hybrid system. This combination will be able to offer 321 HP and around 300 lb-ft. However, this model will come with the improved fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 27 highway.
2019 Honda Ridgeline Price and Release Date
The base trim price of 2019 Honda Ridgeline is approx $29,730. The sports model will cost little more than $34,000. One can also add an all-wheel-drive system that cost extra $1,900. The black edition model will start at $44,000. The truck will debut in late 2018.
Summing it up
The new Honda Ridgeline is a well designed midsized pickup truck that gets good safety features and a powerful engine under the hood. It will succeed in wooing target users, as it seems. The main competitors will be Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Tacoma and GMC Canyon.
