2023 GMC Sierra HD Production Will Start on July 18th

According to officials, the production of the 2023 GMC Sierra HD heavy-duty pickup will ramp up on July 18th, 2022. GMC also revealed recently that the order books will be opened on May 5th. As a reminder, this truck is one of the best haulers in the segment, featuring robust design and a very roomy cabin.

For 2023, it will introduce only minor changes because a full redesign is slated to happen for the subsequent 2024 model year. As you may know, this truck was so far two times delayed as the result of continuing stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

2023 GMC Sierra HD Redesign

As we said, the 2023 GMC Sierra HD will introduce only mild changes compared to the outgoing one. This means we can expect some small refreshments. The exterior styling of this truck has always been rugged yet premium thanks to straight lines, a side bed step, and LED exterior lighting. As before, the design of the Sierra HD can change quite a bit if you decide to go for upper trims.

The Denali trim is one of the most luxurious wearing attractive chrome grille and unique wheels. The AT4 also stands out thanks to having more black exterior accents, red tow hooks, and a taller ride height.

Roomy Interior

No matter if you choose either the 2500HD or 3500HD models, you can count on a very roomy cabin. The heavy-duty trucks offer more comfortable interior than many average trucks. Basically, both models have plenty of roomy in the front seats, no matter which cab and box configuration you go with. It is worth mentioning that the Crew Cab model is the pinnacle if you’re looking for a more spacious cabin.

On the technology front, the latest Sierra HD has an 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a backup camera, and Bluetooth connectivity.

2023 GMC Sierra HD Comes with Two Engine Options

The current GMC Sierra HD is available with two engine options, and we expect the new model to keep that. As standard, it is available with a 6.6-liter V8 L8T gasoline engine that makes 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. This engine uses a six-speed automatic transmission.

A more potent 6.6-liter V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax is optional, producing 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Unlike the first one, this engine comes with Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.

How Much Will the 2022 GMC Sierra HD Cost?

The GMC Sierra HD trucks are in high demand, and they are selling well. According to GMC, the Sierra HD sales up 12.5 percent to 54,652 units during the 2021 calendar year. The starting price of the 2500 HD model is $36,200, while the loaded 3500 Denali model cost $68,100.

So, if you need to do some serious towing, then this truck is worth considering. This truck stands pretty well considering its tough competitors like the Ford Super Duty and the Ram Heavy Duty.
