The 2023 GMC Sierra EV is the upcoming all-electric pickup truck that will try to take the electric market by storm next year. Unlike the regular model, the new EV will feature many upgrades and changes. First of all, it will use the company’s latest EV components, and it should supposedly carry an entirely new exterior look. Unfortunately, GMC did not specify the exact date of its launch, but many believe it will be available in 2023.
From what we heard, the GMC Sierra EV will produce 400 to 625 horsepower, depending on the electric engine and Ultium battery packs. It will come with a single-speed transmission four-wheel drive, and it should have a two-motor setup with one motor in front and the other at the rear.

For now, there’s no clue how the upcoming 2023 GMC Sierra EV would look like. Knowing General Motors, we would expect some unique external modifications to stepping up from its rivals. However, we expect the EV model to feature a new grille, more attractive headlights, and minor or major changes here and there.
Also, from some gossips, the features such as the EZ-tailgate, heated power-adjustable mirrors, remote locking tailgate, and cargo box lighting would probably make their way into the EV model.
Cabin Should Be More Modern
The interior of the 2023 GMC Sierra EV will probably be modern as its predecessors. In general, the appearance inside will depend on the trim levels. For instance, choosing the Base trim, buyers will get a rubberized vinyl floor covering and the floor-mounted shifter for the transfer case. The infotainment and connectivity would definitely be improved on the EV model. The current Sierra Base trim came with a 7″ infotainment system, so anything less than an 8″ would be a letdown.
With advances in technology and many innovations, the EV should bring more safety technologies than the regular model. We can expect Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking.
2023 GMC Sierra EV Specs
The 2023 GMC Sierra EV is the pickup truck powered by a two-motor setup with one motor in front and the other at the rear. It will also use the newest GMC’s Ultrium battery packs with different configurations and capacities. Currently, the highest Ultium battery pack is a large 200KWh. According to the EPA rating, with this battery, the vehicle can cover around 400-mile range estimate.
Interestingly, there is a rumor that it might adopt a three-motor setup like the GMC Hummer EV. As for the towing and payload capacity, the new Sierra would likely provide slightly higher numbers than its predecessor that offers has a maximum towing of 9,100 pounds.
Release Date and Price
There is no official word about the debut of the 2023 GMC Sierra EV model. However, many of us are hoping that it will arrive sometime next year. Besides a completely new design, the new truck should also provide a more comfortable cabin.
The EV should fit five passengers with decent legroom and headroom like the regular variant. Unlike the GMC Hummer EV, the GMC Sierra EV will be more of a workday truck. As for the price, it will probably cost no less than $60,000 for the base model.
