Legendary Hummer pickup truck is making a huge comeback. This time as an all-electric vehicle. The 2022 GMC Hummer EV made a huge debut on the commercial during the Super Bowl. This commercial features LeBron James and the slogan for the new Hummer is “quiet dominance.” According to GMC, Hummer will produce 1000 horsepower, and it will arrive with an impressive acceleration.
Moreover, the exterior will look quite astonishing and modern. Interior details are not available yet, but we can expect a very upright cabin. The 2021 Hummer EV will try to rival Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T models. The sales will start at the beginning of 2022.
2022 Hummer EV Exterior Design
The approaching 2022 GMC Hummer EV will feature a very modern and upscale appearance. So far, we’ve seen this model in the commercial and it was a teaser image. However, the commercial was showing an iconic six-slat grille with modern „HUMMER’ letterings. The illuminated grille looks perfect, and it looks astonishing next to the squared-off LED headlights. Below, Hummer will host a large vent opening with „GMC“ badge in the middle. Moreover, fender flares are looking bolder.
The commercial didn’t show skid plate, but it is surely somewhere under these elements. We must say the lighting system is quite impressive, and even the lights on the roof are available. Unfortunately, the rest of the exterior is not available yet. We have no doubts that the new Hummer will look great once it arrives.
Engine Specs, Acceleration
If you are a hardcore old-school Hummer’s V8 engine, sorry. New 2022 GMC Hummer EV will be an all-electric pickup truck. According to General Motors, Hummer will produce up to 1000 horsepower. The horses in the commercial are clearly symbolising great power. Interestingly, but the manufacturer also promises 11,500 lb-ft of torque, which is impossible. It’s the way the GMC quotes these figures, but they are misleading. For that reason, we don’t know how much twisting power will this pickup provide.
Moreover, GMC said the all-new Hummer EV would accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds. It would be amazing if General Motors delivers promised figures, until then, we’ll leave a question mark on this subject. On the other hand, Hummer pickup will surely deliver great power with impressive towing capacity. Moreover, this model will offer a standard AWD system.
2022 Hummer vs 2021 Tesla Cybertruck
It is too early to say, but Hummer’s biggest competitor will be a Tesla Cybertruck. At this moment, we can’t make a full comparison because General Motors didn’t provide all of the details. However, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV will surely be a strong competitor to Cybertruck or Rivian R1T model. No doubts, both Hummer and Cybertruck will provide similar figures in terms of power, range, towing capacity and acceleration.
On the other hand, Hummer will definitely look better than the odd-looking Tesla’s pickup truck. This could be a huge advantage for the GMC and its more conventional model. Unfortunately, Cybertruck will be a more affordable model.
2022 GMC Hummer EV Price and Release Date
In terms of price, the upcoming 2022 GMC Hummer EV will cost closer to the Rivian R1T pickup truck. That means the price could start between $60,000 and $70,000. On the other hand, Tesla Cybertruck will cost significantly less, only $40,000. General Motors will build its newest model in Detroit, the same plant that produces Cadillac Escalade. The brand-new Hummer will go on sale at the beginning of 2022.
