The all-new 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 continues its journey. It is a very exciting pickup truck with a premium appearance and great performances. GM plans to introduce AT4 trim on all of the company’s models in the next two years. Even the heavy-duty lineup will offer AT4 treatment, along with the Acadia and some other models.
Basically, AT4 is a replacement for All-Terrain trim level. It offers similar upgrades but if you compare two variants, AT4 is definitely better. As for the upcoming Sierra 1500, this model will arrive with mid-cycle refreshments. Most of these upgrades will be available on the Sierra AT4.
2021 Sierra 1500 AT4 – How Does It Look?
In terms of exterior design, the new 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 will arrive with a classy off-road pickup truck appearance. AT4 treatment includes additional aggressiveness and it also provides taller ride height. More precisely, Sierra 1500 AT4 offers two additional inches of ground clearance. Thanks to that, the customers can expect better off-road ability. Sierra 1500 comes with a commanding stance and it wears numerous blacked-out features.
However, not everything on this pickup is so wild. Some parts of the body are looking so subtle. The front fascia will host a dark chrome grille and bolder bumper. Red tow hooks, 18-inch wheels, and Micheline all-terrain tires are all available. 20-inch rims are optional. Lastly, General Motors offers a unique suspension setup, Rancho shocks and Eaton rear locking differential.

What About Interior?
The interior comes with a modern look and numerous high-tech amenities. New 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 offers various darkened trims and beautiful leather upholstery. The cabin wears more high-quality materials than the base trim level. Still, GM’s relatively new 15-inch head-up display is perhaps the highlight of the interior. The very same display provides an inclinometer.
As for the rest of the tech inside the cabin, Sierra 1500 AT4 offers a traction select system and new off-road driving mode. Furthermore, this pickup truck comes with hill start assist and hill descent control systems. GM will also offer a couple of new driver-assistance aids that will be optional.

Expect Higher Level of Torque
The forthcoming 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 will use a 5.3-liter V8 diesel engine. This proven diesel powertrain generates 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. General Motors promises additional 37 lb-ft of torque for 2021. That means the AT4 variant will provide almost 500 lb-ft of torque. You can expect the same thing on the rest of the AT4 version, including the Sierra heavy-duty lineup.
So far, Ram Rebel is the only off-road pickup truck in the segment that uses a diesel engine. Because of that, Sierra 1500 AT4 is its direct competitor. Lastly, GM offers a 10-speed automatic transmission and pickup’s fuel economy has been rated at 22 mpg combined.
