2021 GMC Canyon Redesign, Platform, Specs

GMC Canyon is the light-duty mid-size pickup truck. This model is present for quite a time now. However, the latest redesign happened in 2015. Now, the 2021 GMC Canyon will introduce more mid-cycle refreshments. Unfortunately, GMC will introduce a complete redesign in 2022. That means the 2021 Canyon will ride on the second-gen model.

The new platform is certain but it is yet unknown when the new platform will become available. On top of that, the hybrid drivetrain is still a possibility. For 2021, Canyon will get some visual updates and interior changes. The current engine lineup should largely remain.

2021 GMC Canyon Platform Changes

Currently, Canyon pickup rides on a GMT 31XX platform. New GM VSS-T architecture is already confirmed but it will arrive most likely in 2022. New 2021 GMC Canyon will get a couple of visual improvements. That means minor changes will happen in terms of design. The mid-size pickup truck will look more attractive as a result. GMC offers a Black Out exterior trim once again.

On top of that, the optional Nightfall Package is in the offer too. The new model will introduce two brand-new exterior paints. Moreover, the front fascia will get enlarged headlights and a slightly wider grille. The rear part should largely remain. There will be two-bed choices and two cab configurations. A removable tailgate is optional and upper trim levels are available with more chrome accents.

Interior Accessories

The interior of the upcoming 2021 GMC Canyon pickup will remain modern and practical. GMC will introduce small minor changes. However, the cabin already looks attractive and stylish. On top of that, the interior room is generous.

Interestingly, Canyon offers almost the same interior space as some of the full-size models. For 2021, GMC will provide wider seats and new materials. Legroom will remain in both rows. Upper trims are offering fine leather seats with contrast stitching. Tech-wise, the mid-size pickup will get numerous updates. However, we believe there won’t be any new features.
