New 2020 Canyon model has just arrived. That means we can focus on the future and the upcoming 2021 GMC Canyon Denali pickup. Current model got some serious improvements.
That includes new remote-locking tailgate, tire-fill alert and changes to standard/optional features. Unfortunately, the 2021 model will mostly arrive as a carryover. We can only expect tech updates and new safety packages. On top of that, new exterior paints are a possibility. Under the hood, Canyon Denali will largely remain. However, there is no need for a significant change. After all, Denali trim delivers big towing capacity, great driving manners, and comfortable ride.
2021 GMC Canyon Denali Design
The upcoming 2021 GMC Canyon Denali is available only in a Crew Cab variant. Just like the base model, Denali trim also comes with compact proportions. On the other hand, the Denali trim level delivers a sportier vibe and more aggressiveness. Larger lettering finished in red color is still available on the front fascia.
For 2021, GMC will introduce more silver trims and small modifications on the headlights and taillights. The grille will largely remain, just like the hood and the doors. Knowing that HID headlamps are available once again. On top of that, LED daytime running lights are also in the offer. Tow hooks and 20-inch alloy wheels are relatively fresh so we won’t see changes in this category. Whatsoever, the 2020 model introduced new remote-locking tailgate and more standard features. It is a fresh design that looks very attractive and sporty.
Cabin Details
The interior of the all-new 2021 GMC Canyon Denali will also get a small number of updates. However, the cabin looks and feels impressive. Denali trim delivers pure luxury for years and this model will be no different. The list of the standard amenities is really long and GMC offers premium materials and features. Only a couple of features are optional inside the Canyon Denali model.
Compact pickup truck offers standard perforated leather seats. The front seats are available with heating and cooling options. Contrast stitching, chrome accents, and wood trims are visible at first glance. A Jet Black interior scheme is optional and it is available once again. As for the updates, only tech features and infotainment system will be upgraded. Current model already got new tire-fill alert and new safety packages.
2021 GMC Canyon Denali Engine
There will two engine options under the hood. The 2021 GMC Canyon Denali comes with a standard 3.6-liter V6. This gasoline engine produces 310 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy delivers 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. On top of that, a 6-speed automatic gearbox is in the offer. On the other hand, a 2.8-liter diesel is an optional engine.
Duramax powertrain generates 180 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine comes with the same 6-speed automatic transmission. Both powertrain options are available with two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive systems. Canyon Denali comes with great driving manners and its handling is superb. Unfortunately, a front air dam is still present which limits the off-road capabilities.
Towing Capacity
Furthermore, gasoline engine tows around 7,700 pounds while diesel over 9,000 pounds. Generally, towing capacity for the gasoline V6 is above average for the segment.
Cost and Arrival
The price of the all-new 2021 GMC Canyon Denali will remain. That means the upcoming range-topping trim level is available for $40,500. The high-performance pickup truck will go on sale next fall.
