Every time when the truck manufacturer releases an all-new light-duty pickup, it is only a matter of time when we will see an HD version. This is why the 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 is coming on the markets once again, this time, as a much better model than the current model. Furthermore, according to latest spy shots, GMC rolled out an upper trim of Sierra 3500 on the road testing. Even under the camouflage, most of the things are pretty clear.
The 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 will be based on the Sierra 1500 as we are used to seeing in the past. However, the new model will obtain numerous updates. This full-size pickup truck will also offer three cab sizes and up to four trim levels. A great off-roader when great strength and tow rating, GMC Sierra 3500 also offers modern interior and standard rear-wheel-drive setup.
2020 GMC Sierra 3500 is based on the Sierra 1500 model
First of all, the 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 looks amazing. This aggressive pickup will borrow literally everything from its 1500 sibling. Of course, we are speaking about the heavy-duty truck, so most of the features will be much larger and much aggressive. Unlike the current model, the new Sierra 3500 will get a different shape of the headlights and larger front grille.
Additionally, the grille adds more chrome trim and the headlights are available in LED technology. The rear end now adds new Corner Step system that is optional. To the sides, 18-inch wheels are standard and you can pick optional 19-inch rollers. This heavy-duty full-size pickup truck will also offer plenty of optional equipment and optional packages.
2020 GMC Sierra 3500 interior spied
As we already wrote, the all-new 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 will borrow a lot from its smaller Sierra 1500 brother. The interior will be no different and most of the features, shapes, and layouts are the same on both models. However, it is quite surprising to see such a rugged workhorse with such a nice and subtle interior. You can equip your Sierra 3500 to an almost luxurious level with the optional leather seats and other upscale amenities.
Furthermore, a well-known Denali trim is available, and it comes with the contrast stitching, heated steering wheel, more wood, chrome, and aluminum materials.
On the other hand, even the base model with the cloth upholstery provides a good level of comfort. Crew cab configuration offers more room inside the cabin and seating for six. Regular cab offers the same number of seats, but the legroom is less ample. Regular cab can accommodate only three passengers and it comes with two-doors.
2020 GMC Sierra 3500 powertrain
There will be no changes under the hood of the forthcoming 2020 GMC Sierra 3500. That means there will be three engines in the offer and all three of them are V8 units. The base powertrain is a 6.0-liter CNG that delivers 300 HP and 333 lb-ft of torque. Moving up to the first optional engine, it is the same 6.0-liter unit but this output will use a gasoline instead.
The gasoline engine can produce 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of twists. If you want a real power and astonishing towing capabilities, opt for the 6.6-liter Duramax V8. This turbodiesel powertrain generates 445 horses and 910 lb-ft of torque.
Thanks to the engines above, the 2020 Sierra 3500 can tow up to 23,200 pounds. All three engines are offering a 6-speed automatic transmission.
2020 GMC Sierra 3500 price and release date
The upcoming 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 will hit the markets later in 2019, before taking a part in the North American International Car Show in Detroit. The price will remain, which means this heavy-duty full-size truck will cost $36,500. Range-topping Denali version will cost over $60,000 for sure.
