The all-new 2020 GMC Canyon is getting a couple of refreshments. Changes are minor, but the mid-size truck will be improved. GMC will improve towing capacity. Furthermore, Black Out exterior trim is available, besides the already present Nightfall Package. Canyon will get two exterior paints and it will look better than its predecessor.

Slight design changes will happen and the interior will be additionally improved and modernized. The 2020 Canyon will look attractive and it will offer three engine options. On top of that, you can choose between two-bed choices and two cab configurations.

The forthcoming 2020 GMC Canyon offers a similar look as the larger GMC Sierra model. It is the same design language and some features are borrowed. Both models are offering the same wheel arches and modern headlights. Furthermore, vertical grille is the same. In the back, rear bumper sports a corner step that provides easier access into the bed. There will be two cab configurations. Crew Cab and Extended Cab.

Crew Cab comes with a 5.2-foot bed. Whatsoever, it is the longest bed in the mid-size pickup truck segment. When it comes to updates for 2020, Canyon will get heated exterior mirrors. Also, Black Out exterior package is available. You can now choose between this package or the existing Nightfall Package. GMC is offering a removable tailgate that can be locked. Upper trim levels will get more chrome accents and more standard features.

The interior is very practical and modern. However, GMC will provide even more modern cabin. The cabin is spacious, more than its rivals. Whatsoever, the 2020 GMC Canyon offers almost the same interior room as some full-size pickup trucks. For 2020, Canyon will get wider seats and more upscale materials.

Legroom is ample, especially up front. Leather seats are optional once again and are available with red contrast stitching. The infotainment system will get an update too, but the 8-inch touchscreen will remain.

Under the hood, Canyon offers three powertrain choices. The 2020 GMC Canyon will continue with this tradition. That means there will be no changes under the bonnet. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is standard and it delivers 200 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. However, more recommendable engines are the optional units.

A 3.6-liter V6 generates 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. The third option is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel. This four-cylinder engine provides 180 horses and 370 lb-ft of twist.

Towing Capacity

Both optional units are offering an Active Tow system as standard. Also, even the optional V6 can tow more than Canyon’s rivals. However, if you want real towing capacity, opt for the diesel variant that can tow 7700 pounds.

Price and Release Date

The price of the new 2020 GMC Canyon shouldn’t get a significant increase. The current model costs $23,000. However, the arriving version could cost $24,000. The mid-size pickup will hit the dealerships this fall.

The canyon is a very customizable pickup and it is available in 20 different configurations. If you opt for the Denali model, you could end up paying over $42,000.
