The forthcoming 2022 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid is in the works. The Blue Oval automaker plans to sell its new model globally. However, this model will also arrive in the United States. It is a famous mid-size pickup truck with its first-ever hybrid powertrain.
Ford will introduce various body configurations, and significant visual refreshments are sure to happen. Moreover, the customers should expect additional interior updates as well. A new hybrid system is built around a 2.3-liter engine, and it should provide drastically improved fuel efficiency.
2022 Ranger Plug-In Hybrid Facelift
In terms of design, the new 2022 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid will introduce significant upgrades. The exterior redesign includes a variety of changes, and the latest photos are proof. The front fascia will wear two chrome bars that are also larger than before. On the other hand, rectangular grille should largely remain. The front part now looks more like the fascia on the F-150 pickup.
It looks stylish and, in our opinion, very modern. The front bumper comes with two vertical elements, and the fender flares are now boxier. The rear section will gain new and bigger tailgate with RANGER letterings.
The interior of the 2022 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid looks very modern. Whatsoever, arriving pickup will get a cabin that looks closer to the Ford Everest SUV. The mid-size pickup truck should feature a brand-new SYNC4 infotainment system. On top of that, Ranger PHEV will introduce a larger touchscreen than its predecessor. A tablet-like 12.8-inch touchscreen is the most likely outcome. Ford will focus on the new media center, so the interior will be very modern.
Ranger will feature another 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. New upholstery is in the works, along with the fresh air vents finished in a different shape. Lastly, the Blue Oval will introduce additional driver-assistance aids. The list of standard equipment will be longer, and Ford will once again offer a Super Crew Cab configuration.
Ranger PHEV, Specs, Transmission
The forthcoming 2022 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid will deploy a T6 architecture. It is a body-on-frame platform that easily accommodates a hybrid setup. Moreover, the same architecture underpins Ford Everest SUV. The manufacturer will build a hybrid system around its 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. Thanks to the electric motors and battery pack, the output will be rated at around 362 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.
On top of that, a new 10-speed automatic transmission is available. Generally, Ford improved every aspect of its famous mid-size pickup truck. Previous rumors about Ranger PHEV with hybrid setup taken from Explorer SUV were obviously false.
2022 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid Release Date, Price
From what we know, Ranger will get diesel powertrain in Europe and Australia. Moreover, the 2022 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid will also arrive. On the other hand, its arrival in the United States is questionable, at least in the first year of the production. Some reports are saying that a hybrid version will be launched at the beginning of 2021. The price will start at around $40,000 or slightly below that.
