The all-new 2022 Ford F-250 has been spied for the first time. The prototype was wearing heavy camouflage so some exterior parts are perfectly hidden. Still, reliable sources are saying the arriving truck is the next-gen model. That means the camouflage probably hides significant exterior changes. From what we saw, the truck’s dimensions are the same, including its shape.
Moreover, interior updates will be major. The only thing we don’t know is the possible engine lineup. From what we heard, this truck will probably continue to offer the same gasoline and diesel engines. This is not a bad thing at all, as Ford offers very potent powertrain options. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021.
Ford F-250 Spy Photos
The spied prototype was wearing heavy camouflage. Thanks to that, spy shots of the 2022 Ford F-250 are showing just some of the important exterior updates. The next-gen model will gain various refreshments and some of them are drastic. As we already said, F-250 will arrive with the same dimensions as the outgoing model. Moreover, the shape will remain, along with the truck’s robust appearance.
The platform is unchanged for 2022 but in terms of design, some things are about to change. The front fascia will offer a new grille that looks sharper and it wears more chrome. The headlights are visually smaller, thanks to a different shape. Even the headlights are now looking slimmer, which is another modern cue. As before, Ford will offer a Tremor package that adds various visual and mechanical upgrades.
The approaching 2022 Ford F-250 will gain more cabin updates. We don’t expect major surprises on the inside. The interior is based on the cabin of the F-150 model. Of course, F-250 is a heavy-duty model so it will offer less high-tech amenities. On the other hand, we think the complete Super Duty lineup is modern enough. The interior is spacious and comfort is great.
We don’t think that Ford will opt for a complete revamp. Instead, Blue Oval will probably focus on technology updates. A longer list of standard amenities will happen for sure. Moreover, we expect the newest driver-assistance aids to be in the offer. The infotainment system is up to date and that’s about it. We are waiting to hear more info as Ford could surprise us with new upholstery or something similar.
From what we know, the 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine is no longer available. That means the 2022 Ford F-250 will offer two engine options. The first one is a potent 7.3-liter V8 gasoline. According to Blue Oval, this is the class-leading gasoline powertrain. It can produce 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, Ford will offer a relatively new 10-speed automatic transmission.
A 7.3-liter V8 remains an optional engine. It is a turbodiesel version that generates 450 hp and up to 1050 lb-ft of torque. This engine will use the same transmission. We are hoping to see additional improvements in terms of performances, especially torque figures.
2022 Ford F-250 Price and Release Date
The price of the 2022 Ford F-250 will now start at around $36,000. This is not official, but a new model will surely cost more than its predecessor. More info will become available in the first quarter of 2021. As for the launch date, Ford plans to release the complete Super Duty lineup in the later stages of 2021.
