The comeback of the Ranchero pickup is happening. The 2021 Ford Ranchero should arrive at the beginning of the next year. Ford plans to introduce plenty of novelties ahead of the huge comeback. New Ranchero will look like a mix of various Ford models. It will lack uniqueness, but it will be a very modern and upright pickup.
Some parts are incredibly muscular, while the first renderings are looking promising. Most of the cues are taken from the Mustang. Moreover, the new Mustang Mach E crossover will wear a similar design language. Some parts of the new Ranchero are still not available. However, the Blue Oval manufacturer will release more details closer to the launch date.
2021 Ranchero Redesign
Decades ago, Ranchero was a famous model, known for its unique design and great performances. The 2021 Ford Ranchero won’t look anyway near its predecessor. Instead, Ford will deliver a less odd design, so the customers should expect plenty of traditional cues. Most of the design is closer to the Ford Mustang.
On top of that, the new Mustang Mach E crossover will wear a similar design, once it arrives. According to the latest reports, Ranchero will ride on a body-on-frame architecture. It is a CD6 platform that also underpins new Explorer SUV. Rendering photos are available, but we can’t say how exactly new Ranchero could look like. Lastly, Ford plans to offer Ranchero in a single cab configuration.
Interior Looks Modern
New 2021 Ford Ranchero will offer traditional interior design. Again, some design cues and features are taken from other Ford’s crossovers and SUVs. The cabin looks upright, but it is still far from a real luxury. However, upper trims could take you to the premium level. A single cab setup is sure to happen.
However, a single row of seats won’t satisfy the customers. For that reason, we expect a five-seat cabin, so the double cab version makes perfect sense. The cabin is equipped with high-quality materials and plenty of technology. Besides vertically-oriented touchscreen, Ranchero will feature a digital instrument cluster.
Possible Powertrain Options
The brand-new 2021 Ford Ranchero will most likely deploy EcoBoost turbocharged engine. A 2.3-liter turbo-four will be offered as standard, and it will deliver 300 horsepower. Optionally, Ford should offer a larger 2.7-liter or 3.5-liter V6. Ranchero could also arrive with a hybrid powertrain.
Its platform is a perfect fit for a hybrid system, but the Blue Oval refuses to give any comments. A new 10-speed automatic transmission is available too. If Ford offers a special off-road variant, a manual gearbox will be in the offer.
2021 Ford Ranchero Price and Release Date
The forthcoming 2021 Ford Ranchero should start at around $30,000. We can’t say how many trim levels will be in the offer, but Ford usually offers over five trim levels. With that in mind, upper trim levels could cost around or over $50,000.
Interestingly, Chevrolet is returning its El Camino pickup that will directly rival the Ranchero model. The sales should start in the first quarter of 2021. Ford will reveal more details in the coming months.
