The all-new 2021 Ford F-550 is ready for another mid-cycle update. This Super Duty truck will gain a couple of novelties, mostly on the inside. The exterior should remain and we can expect small refinements only. However, the cabin should feature more modern features and F-550 will get various driver-assistance aids.
The times when F-550 was just a workhorse, are long gone now. Ford’s latest V8 gasoline engine is available as well. Overall, this truck continues to represent a reliable option in the segment. Whatsoever, you will hardly find a better model in its class. The sales will start at some point during the second half of 2020.
2021 F-550 Exterior Refreshments
The upcoming 2021 Ford F-550 will remain as attractive as before. Blue Oval won’t introduce significant changes in terms of design. Moreover, a vehicle’s shape and dimensions will largely remain too. Some reports are writing about new optional wheels, but this is just a rumor. After all, it doesn’t really matter. F-550 is one of the most stylish Super-Duty models you can find.
It wears Ford’s recognizable design language that attracts the customers and Blue Oval won’t change that. There will be three cab configurations: Regular Cab, Super Cab, and Super Crew Cab. Moreover, various trim levels are making F-550 a very customizable truck. Thanks to that, you can choose between the basic version or the more luxurious range-topping trim levels.
Interior Gets More Updates
Things are quite different on the inside. New 2021 Ford F-550 will get a couple of interior refreshments. However, that mostly includes various updates in terms of high-tech features. The cabin already looks stylish enough and comfort is admirable for the segment. Of course, the level of comfort is improving through the numerous trim levels.
However, the base model is still the most popular choice. Small changes on the dash and center console are barely visible. On the other hand, customers will surely enjoy the latest systems and driver-assistance aids. F-550 truck will also feature a 110-V power outlet. Range-topping trim levels such as Limited are offering leather upholstery, power-adjustable pedals, and al-weather floor mats.
Engine Specs, Transmission, Towing Capacity
There will be two engine options under the hood of the new 2021 Ford F-550. For a start, new 7.3-liter V8 is standard on the F-550 truck. It provides 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. This unit is also standard on the F-450 version. That means a 6.2-liter that is currently available won’t be in the offer anymore. As for the diesel, a 6.7-liter PowerStroke engine is optional.
This V8 turbodiesel powertrain generates 330 horsepower and 825 lb-ft of torque. Back to the standard engine, Ford promises class-leading figures for a gasoline powertrain. New TorqShift 10-speed automatic transmission is also available. If you want the best-possible towing capacity, diesel powertrain can tow up to 40,000 pounds.
2021 Ford F-550 Price and Release Date
The price of the approaching 2021 Ford F-550 will start at around $45,000. If you want more luxury, Lariat trim level costs almost $60,000. Blue Oval manufacturer will release its new Super Duty lineup in the second half of 2020.
