Back in time, Ford F-150 Lightning was a thing of beauty. This high-performance variant that is based on the regular F-150 pickup truck ended its production in 2004. Blue Oval carmaker made a decision to replace this version with the F-150 Raptor came as a huge surprise. Now, the 2020 Ford F-150 Lightning could make another comeback.
To be more precise, a Lightning model already made a comeback, even it is not official. A Ford’s dealer in Georgia made its very own version. However, we’d like for this pickup to make a comeback as the dealer made only two models so far, respectively. Interestingly, the dealer is offering a full Ford warranty and a 5.0-liter V8 with a supercharger. The unit is producing up to 650 horses and the exterior looks very modern and sporty.
2020 Ford F-150 Lightning exterior appearance
A couple of years ago, Ford was offering a Tremor variant of the F-150 pickup truck. Tremor was a high-performance truck with a sporty exterior design. It came in a regular-cab body style and it was based on the FX Appearance Package from that time. The 2020 Ford F-150 Lightning could get the same treatment, we just hope with more success.
The original Lightning model came with the five-spoke 18-inch wheels and a Goodyear tires. In today’s world, 22-inch chunky wheels are a more probable outcome. The 2020 Lightning will arrive as a two-door model with a shorter wheelbase and a lower suspension. Moreover, side pipes are a must on this model and expect the lower ground clearance as well.
2020 Ford F-150 Lightning interior will be the same as in the F-150 Raptor model
The interior of the 2020 Ford F-150 Lightning will deliver the same interior as the current Ford F-150 Raptor. That means you can expect plenty of luxury from the inside. For the start, leather seats are standard.
Sporty steering wheel, new infotainment system, satellite navigation and much more will be standard. Additional chrome trims should be visible at a first glance, along with the carbon fiber materials. The all-digital display on the gauge cluster is another standard part of the interior. You can also expect a console-mounted shifter and a very comfortable custom bucket seats.
2020 Ford F-150 Lightning engine generates 650 horses
A Georgia’s truck dealer made only two Lightning models so far. Both of them are using a 5.0-liter V8 engine that can deliver an astonishing 650 horsepower. The credit goes to a supercharger that is a product of the Roush Performance company. However, the 2020 Ford F-150 Lightning will probably get a Blue Oval’s new powertrain.
It is a twin-turbo V6 that can generate 450 horses and 510 lb-ft of torque. Of course, if the Lightning pickup became available on the various markets, you can also expect numerous drivetrain choices. No doubt, we’d like to see a diesel variant as well.
2020 Ford F-150 Lightning price and release date
The upcoming 2020 Ford F-150 Lightning could end up like the Ford Bronco. After its discount, a big return is scheduled for 2020. While the price is a mystery at this moment, a truck dealer from Georgia is selling its Lightning truck for a $50,000. If this sporty variant happens, Blue Oval carmaker will offer a slightly higher price for sure.
