US car giant Ford is busy revamping its pickup truck lineup. After taking wraps off the new F-150 light-duty truck range, the company also gave a glimpse of revamped 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor model.
The midsized pickup is aimed squarely at off-road centric users. The test models appear with camouflage several times and finally, the model was unveiled by Ford.
2019 Ford Ranger Raptor Rugged and Stylish Look
The new model 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor does look rugged and stylish. Its flared fenders, larger wheels and tires and a blocky “FORD” grille lend it a decidedly macho appeal. The ground clearance is 11.1 inches and its body is both taller and wider than regular variant. The first look may remind you of the F-150 Raptor.
The truck also gets steel underbody skid plate, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, 17-inch alloy wheels, independent front suspension, and Fox Racing shocks to handle rough roads with aplomb. Even the cabin is stylish and the materials used are pretty upscale. The magnesium shift paddles bolstered seats and trim scream quality.
2019 Ford Ranger Safety and Amenities
The details of safety features and amenities in the new Ford Ranger Raptor have not been announced. However, these will be on par with regular Ranger version. You will also get the updated Sync 3 infotainment setup with touch display unit.
As for safety, airbags, traction control and lane keep assisting are there along with blind spot monitor. Ford may also offer some customization or packages for the model.
2019 Ford Ranger Raptor Twin-Turbocharged Under the Hood
The USP of the new Ford Ranger Raptor is its powertrain- beyond any doubt. The engine under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel unit. It coming with a 10-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
The output is 210 HP. This is way below the F-150 Raptor’s output of 450 HP. But it stacks up well against archrival Chevy Colorado.
2019 Ford Ranger Raptor Towing Capacity
The truck also gets laden with unique Terrain Management System with modes like Baja, Rock, Sand/Mud, Snow, Sport and normal. The towing capacity is approx 5512 pounds. Besides, the Raptor gets a unique new suspension.
The possibility of Ford launching the truck in the USA is uncertain. However, the company sources say if the model makes it to the US market it will not have the diesel engine and different powertrain will be. Ford is of the view the Raptor buyers will not look for a workhorse. For that, the regular model of Ranger is there with 7700 pounds towing capacity.
2019 Ford Ranger Raptor Price and Release Date
The pricing of new 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor is not known. However, it is likely to be around above $40.000 much like Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Chevy Colorado ZR2. The release date could be in late 2018.

The 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor is an exciting truck in midsized pickup segment and it is aimed to win the off-roading lovers. The styling is superb, the cabin is spacious and powertrain is quite capable.
