Fiat will look to expand its pickup truck lineup. However, the company won’t introduce the all-new model. As a matter of fact, the existing Toro model will start with sale globally. The 2020 Fiat Toro will depart little from the current model. Current Toro is available in Brazil only, and in Colombia, it carries the name “Ram 1000”. Toro will arrive as a four-door model with a room for five passengers.
It offers a great level of utility and is affordable. Also, the pickup truck will offer two powertrain options.
2020 Fiat Toro Front Is Completely Redesigned
The upcoming 2020 Fiat Toro is a very popular model in South America, specifically in Brazil. However, global Toro model will slightly depart from the South American version. Fiat is willing to introduce a more attractive design with numerous new features and upgrades. Also, new Toro will be more stylish, especially the front end.
The front grille is completely redesigned and the bumpers are more aggressive. LED headlights will be in the offer and the taillights will be all-new. Aerodynamics are improved and the side profile offers a cleaner design. Fiat will also add sharper lines and possibly new optional wheels. Whatsoever, the new 2020 Fiat Toro will ride on the same platform that underpins current Jeep Compass and Renegade models. We can expect more premium appearance with additional chrome inserts. On top of that, Fiat will introduce new exterior colors.
Interior Looks Modern
Even the interior design will look more stylish. It won’t be a premium cabin but for such an affordable price the interior will look modern. For the start, storage bins will be larger and the interior layout will be slightly different. Plenty of advanced safety aids will be standard and some new systems will be optional.
Expect numerous trim levels and upper trims will offer numerous driver-assistance features as standard. New infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Satellite navigation is optional, while the base model will offer standard GPS navigation and Bluetooth. Traction control, tire pressure monitoring and electronic stability control are all standard too. The premium audio system is optional and leather upholstery will be standard only on the range-topping trim level.
2020 Fiat Toro Powertrain Options
Fiat didn’t say anything about the possible engine options. Surely, European and U.S. version won’t offer the same engines as the South American variant. The 2020 Fiat Toro will most likely offer gasoline and diesel engines with lower CO2 emissions. Some reports are already suggesting a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. This e-Torque type of engine provides 140 horsepower.
A 2.0-liter MultiJet turbodiesel engine will be optional. Turbodiesel variant will generate up to 170 horses and over 300 lb-ft of torque. Also, thanks to the same platform that underpins the current Jeep’s Renegade and Compass model, we can expect an optional four-wheel-drive configuration.
Price and Release Date
The price of the upcoming 2020 Fiat Toro will be less affordable than the price of the Brazilian version. After all, global Toro model will introduce better design, more standard features, better interior, and more efficient engines. For that reason, the mid-size pickup truck will cost around $28,000.
The light-duty model will offer numerous trim levels as well. Range-topping trims will be priced at above $35,000. New 2020 Toro will hit the markets later in 2019.
