The forthcoming 2020 Dodge Dakota is about to make a huge comeback. Some details about the all-new model are still a mystery. For the start, some reports are saying that new Dakota will arrive under the Ram’s badge.
On top of that, interior details and powertrains options are not available yet. One thing is certain. The new pickup will be based on the new Jeep Wrangler. That means Dakota will borrow a lot from the famous Wrangler SUV. Whatsoever, both models are built in the same plant in Ohio. Unlike its predecessor, the 2020 Dakota will look more upscale and very modern. The arriving mid-size pickup will offer a stylish appearance and a pleasant ride.
2020 Dodge Dakota Design
As we said, the forthcoming 2020 Dodge Dakota is based on the Wrangler SUV. That means we can expect plenty of similar features and styling cues. Dakota’s dimensions are still not available. However, new Dakota will surely compete in the mid-size pickup segment.
The new pickup could arrive under the Ram’s badge. For that reason, we can expect a similar approach like on the Ram 1500 model. Moreover, that includes the same grille and large RAM lettering up front. When it comes to Wrangler-based features, we can expect similar wheels and similar rear fascia look. Dakota will ride on standard 18-inch wheels and it will look astonishing.
Interior Look
Some parts are still a mystery and interior is one of them. Dodge refuses to provide further interior details. The 2020 Dodge Dakota will surely borrow some stuff from the Jeep Wrangler. On the other hand, some parts will be taken from the Ram 1500 pickup truck.
That includes the interior layout and some of the same features such as displays. We can’t say the all-new mid-size pickup will look unique. On the other hand, it will look upscale and modern which is more important. Thanks to the numerous trim levels you can equip your cabin to a level of real luxury. The base model will look attractive from the inside and comfort will be surely great.
2020 Dodge Dakota Engine Rumors
Even the engine details are not available yet. However, since we know Dakota will borrow a lot of stuff from the Wrangler, some things are much clearer now. A 3.6-liter V6 seems like the most realistic option at the moment. The same engine powers the current Wrangler SUV. It delivers 285 HP and it comes with good fuel economy figures.
The 2020 Dodge Dakota should be offered across the globe. For that reason, some other markets will surely get a diesel option. A 2.0-liter turbodiesel that produces 300 horsepower is another great possibility. Both engines are using the same 8-speed automatic transmission. A four-wheel-drive system will be available as optional equipment.
