The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 off-road truck has been recently shown in a new video clip released by Chevy. The next generation of the midsize off-roader looks way more aggressive than before, and it dominates on the front. Unlike the regular Colorado model, the new ZR2 reveals a new headlight and grille design that’s way different.
Still, it’s unclear which powertrain options the 2023 Colorado ZR2 will use. Many of us are hoping that the 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel will continue to be offered with 369 pound-feet. Despite the diesel powertrain, the manufacturer will also offer a more powerful 308-hp V-6, which is very responsive and speedy.

2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Design
The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 dominates on the front with a new headlight and grille. The lamps are looking slimmer and more upright than original Colorado but are similar. The rest of the fascia includes a big air inlet at each corner. Out back, the next-gen ZR2 looks also more attractive thanks to a new taillight.
As on the original variant, “Chevrolet” is stamped on the tailgate and outlined in black. We also spotted new plastic fender flares that look appropriate in terms of size.
Sporty Interior
The interior of the 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 has a pretty sporty design. The front seats are supportive and there is enough room inside for up to five passengers. Just like original Colorado, the ZR2 is comfortable enough for long-distance highway cruising.
Moreover, the crew cab is the best option if you’re looking for a more back-seat space. The range-topping ZR2 includes Wi-Fi hotspot capability, remote keyless entry, a power driver’s seat, a large infotainment display, a tilt and telescoping steering column, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio. Safety Package, which is available on both ZR1 and ZR2 models adds forward-collision alert and lane-departure warning.
2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Engine Specs
Current mid-size Colorado is powered by three different engine options. There is a base inline-4 that’s producing 200 horsepower. You can also upgrade to the V6, which brings a significant increase in power of 308-hp. Finally, there’s the Duramax turbodiesel with an outstanding 186 horses and a torque rating of 369 lb-ft.
The max tow rating depends on the engine. When properly equipped, the base 4-cylinder is able to maximum tow 3,500 lbs, while the V6 doubles that with a max tow rating of 7,000 lbs. The Duramax diesel is the best option because it can tow up to 7,700 lbs. The base engine is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission, while other engines use an 8-speed automatic.
