The upcoming 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD has been spied once again. The latest images are showing numerous updates. Whatsoever, this truck will gain both exterior and interior refreshments. Various reports are predicting new features for the upper trim levels. On the other hand, the engine lineup will remain intact.
The good thing is that Silverado HD offers both gasoline and diesel engines. Both variants are powerful, but a diesel engine is still a better choice. With a diesel engine, Silverado HD provides better fuel efficiency and significantly better towing capacity. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021.
2022 Silverado HD Spy Shots
The spied prototype shows the latest exterior upgrades. The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD was spied with heavy camouflage. However, some exterior parts are easy to spot and recognize. For an instance, the front fascia wears the most camouflage. That clearly indicates significant changes upfront. We expect improved hood lines, new front fenders, and possibly reshaped grille and headlights.
The latest reports are suggesting the same two-tiered lights that are available on the new Chevy Blazer. The rear part will wear modified taillights and the tailgate could be changed too. Most likely, Silverado HD will use GM’s MultiPro tailgate but it will be called MultiFlex.
Interior Updates
On the inside, the new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD will get some drastic changes. Most likely, the compete heavy-duty lineup will borrow some stuff from Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. The cabin is spacious and the interior layout will largely remain. However, the new model will get the same center stack as the two mentioned SUVs.
The Silverado HD has been criticized for its outdated and dull interior. We can’t agree with those critics but the latest refreshments are more than welcome. Thanks to that, the interior will be more modern and it will provide a cleaner design. As always before, the new model will arrive with the newest driver-assistance aids.
Gasoline and Diesel Engines
The all-new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD will use the same engine lineup as the current model. As we said, the good thing is that Chevy still offers both gasoline and diesel variants. The base engine is a 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine with 400 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. It is important to say that the 6.0-liter powertrain option is no longer available. The 6.6-liter V8 is optional.
This turbodiesel engine is capable of producing 445 horsepower. Moreover, diesel generates up to 910 lb-ft of torque. Like Ram and Ford, Chevy could also provide higher torque ratings in 2022. If that truly happens, the new Silverado HD will provide over 1000 lb-ft of twisting power. At this moment, this truck can tow up to 35,500 pounds.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado Price and Release Date
The price of the new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD will start at around $37,000. The price is slightly increased, which is reasonable given the number of updates. On the other hand, the range-topping High Country model will cost $65,500. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021. However, we can’t predict if this truck will hit the dealerships in the summer or later in 2021.
