Chevrolet plans to introduce further updates on its Silverado pickup. The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 will gain plenty of changes and upgrades. Silverado is the second best-selling pickup in the United States. It comes with great performances, reliability, and versatility. On top of that, this pickup is very practical and modern from the inside.
Besides the regular gasoline powertrain, Silverado 1500 also offers a diesel powertrain. Now, the 2021 Silverado will also get a hybrid powertrain. Chevrolet will also introduce new colors, more standard features and much more.
2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Changes
The forthcoming 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 will get a couple of visual changes. That includes new exterior paints and more distinctive design. Chevrolet will also introduce new moonroof and new optional CarbonPro box. On top of that, MultiPro tailgate like on the GMC Sierra model is available too. More chrome details are visible at first glance, especially on the front fascia.
When it comes to upgrades that you don’t see, there will be a couple of them. Heavy use of aluminum will reduce the pickup’s overall weight. On top of that, some modifications on the architecture will happen as well. The 2021 Silverado will introduce a modified platform that can accommodate hybrid powertrain.
The arriving pickup will also get some interior upgrades. The upcoming 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 will now offer even better comfort. On top of that, the cabin is more modern too. Light-duty pickup segment offers plenty of SUV-like cabins. For that reason, Silverado is forced to improve the quality of the interior.
We can expect more luxury from the inside. That includes better use of high-quality materials and larger storage bins. Thanks to the eight trim levels, Silverado is a very customizable model. Of course, the range-topping trim levels are very luxurious. On the other hand, even the base model provides good comfort and a practical cabin. For now, a 7.0-inch infotainment display remains standard. Higher trims will get larger touchscreens and more standard equipment.
2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Powertrain
Under the Silverado’s hood, there will be the same two powertrain options. A 5.3-liter V8 is still present and it delivers the same 355 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, a 6.2-liter delivers 420 horses and 460 lb-ft of twist. Now, the 2020 Silverado will offer a diesel powertrain. It will be a 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit. However, full engine specs are not available yet. A diesel engine will surely be in the offer in 2021 as well. On the other hand, the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 will get a hybrid powertrain.
After the Ford and Ram entered the “game of hybrids”, Chevrolet is following the same path. There are no official details yet. However, Silverado’s new hybrid setup will be based on the V6 gasoline engine. If the rumors are correct, Silverado 1500 Hybrid will deploy a 4.3-liter V6. This engine cranks out 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. A pair of electric motors and the battery pack will surely improve the horsepower figures. On the other hand, we don’t expect a significant boost. Of course, fuel economy will be over 25 mpg combined.
