2019 Chevy el Camino review

2019 Chevy el Camino Release date (Finally)

Rumors about this mythical model are present for years. After the launch of Pontiac concept ten years ago, we are constantly hearing rumors about this model, and latest reports suggest it would finally come as 2019 Chevy El Camino. A half-coupe and half-utility vehicle, this model is actually a dream car of much more people than you could possibly imagine.

2019 Chevy el Camino

The original version came way back in 1959. With some breaks, it was produced until 1988. After that, we are constantly hearing rumors about its revivals. These rumors became more intense after 2011 when Chevy stated that the revival of the legendary model is in plans actually. Considering that past generations were usually car-based vehicles, we could expect the same from the upcoming model. Still, consider that these are just rumors. Take all these details with a big dose of a reserve.

2019 Chevy El Camino design

The revival of the 2019 Chevy El Camino would be a great thing for many nostalgic drivers, who have seen this pretty unique model only in movies from the 70’s and 80’s. We are sure that, if the company decides to launch it, it will have in the pretty much same manner. This means a classic 2-seat coupe front and a decently-sized bed at the back. This model will most likely come based on some car platform. Considering that previous generations were usually closely related to the iconic muscle cars, we could expect the same this time. This means probably an amazing Alpha platform, which underprints the legendary Camaro. A big engine and RWD are a must for this interesting car/truck.

2019 Chevy El Camino styling

Speaking of styling, the new truck will come with a pretty unique appearance. The front end of the vehicle will come in the brand’s latest design language, with a pretty aggressive stance. In the opposite, the rear end will feature a decently-sized bed, with plenty of space for the luggage. Most likely, this will be a road-oriented vehicle. Despite some utility details, it will feature a performance-oriented suspension, with low ground clearance. It would be a real performance car, we hope.

When it comes to the interior design, we don’t expect such unique layout. Most likely, the new model will borrow dashboard design from some of the existing Chevy models, maybe even from the Camaro. The list of standard feature would be pretty generous, including latest technology features, especially in terms of safety and driver-assist features.

2019 Chevy El Camino engine

This would be some of the strong points of this interesting car. Most likely, we are about to see two engines in the offer.

2019 Chevy el Camino engine

The base engine would be a familiar 3.6-liter V6 unit, which produces around 340 horsepower.

Still, a real deal should be a V8 engine. Most likely, it would be a 6.2-liter engine, borrowed from Chevy Corvette. This unit delivers around 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.

Considering that Chevy has also introduced a highly-efficient 2.0-liter inline-four engine for the new Camaro, we could see it under the hood of 2019 Chevy El Camino as well. This engine seems very potent, with a max power of 275 horsepower. All engines would be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while 6-speed manual could be offered as an optional feature.

2019 Chevy El Camino release date and price

The 2019 Chevy El Camino is nothing more than a rumor at the moment. Still, it doesn’t mean we can’t hope that it would finally come one day. If that happens eventually, count on not so affordable price. We presume that the base model will go between 30.000 and 35.000 dollars.

  1. I’m sitting on ready for the v-6 el camino. Wishing for a pre manufacturer order lift off . Cmon Chevy take preorder commitments and judge the popularity of this vehicle before we boomers give up!

  2. Major Williams

  3. This is a joke. Africa and Australia have the El Camino. Chevy won’t give us one. Google Chevrolet Lumina Ute SS. They’re awesome and practical cars but Chevy just wants to sell us trucks or crap like SSR’s.

  4. I like the black picture, the red sucks. I want my El Camino, People! I’m almost 40 years old. Can I get it in either emerald, sapphire, or silver? royal purple.
