The upcoming 2021 Rivian R1T is an all-electric pickup truck that will cause a huge splash in the automotive world. Whatsoever, it already did, thanks to the Rivian’s promises and predicted figures. R1T will offer an impressive driving range and acceleration. On top of that, the American startup brand said there will be no concept. What you see right now is how the final product will look like.

The design looks futuristic and this pickup will be available in crew cab variant only. The 2021 R1T is no ordinary pickup. It comes with four electric motors, one for each wheel. R1T comes with height-adjustable suspension and off-roading is possible as well. It seems like the rest of the pickup world should be scared, for a reason.

It is an interesting topic. New 2021 Rivian R1T is not as big as the full-size models. Still, it is larger the trucks in the mid-size segment. This pickup offers a 135.8 inches long wheelbase and it is available in crew cab only. Just to compare, Ram 1500 is rated at 144.6 inches and Honda Ridgeline at 125.2 inches. But here is the thing.

Rivian R1T also offers a double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspensions. Thanks to that, height-adjustable air springs can significantly raise or lower the height. In normal circumstances, this pickup offers 11 inches of ground clearance. You can shrink that to 9.4 inches or raise to 14.2 inches. Still, the 2021 R1T is 6 inches longer than the mentioned Ridgeline model.

Rivian R1T Power and Driving Range

The upcoming 2021 Rivian R1T will ride on a skateboard platform. This architecture contains four electric motors, battery pack and the suspension. Each motor delivers 147 kilowatts and total output is rated at 562 kW. That is 753 horsepower. How cool is that? The good thing about having four motors is the acceleration and torque vectoring. In that way, Rivian will avoid locking differentials. As for the battery packs, they will be offered in three different sizes.

Ultimately, that means three different driving ranges. Rivian said the two battery packs will be in the offer right from the beginning. A 135 kWh pack will provide around 300 miles and 180 kWh pack over 400 miles. Rivian promised for its R1T pickup to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds. That is a supercar figure. Moreover, towing capacity will be rated at 11,000 pounds. R1T will charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes on a DC fast charger.

Interior Features and Storage

From the inside, a new 2021 Rivian R1T will deliver leather and wood materials. Large displays are in the offer, along with the impressive safety features. Even the cabin will look futuristic and packed with the latest systems and features. The manufacturer also said that Level 3 autonomy is in the works. However, the highlight of the interior will be storage. The all-electric pickup has no engine upfront. Rivian will use this area to create the front trunk. 2021 Mitsubishi Triton Updates

This is not official yet, but 2021 Mitsubishi Triton could be the next-generation model. It makes perfect sense after the current model failed to provide significant changes. Knowing that new Triton will now look closer to its sibling, the L200 model. Mitsubishi plans to make those two models equal. For the same reason, Triton will get a lot of L200 treatment. Visually, you can expect to see some radical changes. The front fascia will get new grille and headlights.

The rear will also gain new features, such as bumper and taillights. Aerodynamics is another thing that will Mitsubishi focus on. As a result, the 2021 Triton will look more attractive and modern. Triton will arrive with the same platform and same dimensions as its predecessor.

Cabin Design

For the start, the interior layout will largely remain. That means the 2021 Mitsubishi Triton will offer a room for five passengers once again. The upcoming pickup truck will look more upscale from the inside this time. Mitsubishi will deliver a couple of significant upgrades.

That includes more high-quality materials, new upholstery, and a new shape of the air vents. More chrome trims, larger displays, and numerous optional features will be in the offer. On top of that, a longer list of standard amenities is a very likely outcome. However, the layout of the buttons and controls will stay intact.

2021 Mitsubishi Triton Engine

Now, this is where things are getting interesting. The 2021 Mitsubishi Triton should offer the same engine lineup as the U.S. variant called L200. A 3.6-liter V6 will be the standard engine from now on. On top of that, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder diesel will become available. This unit produces 180 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. A larger 2.5-liter diesel is another likely option.

The new gasoline engine will be a 2.4-liter unit that generates 145 horsepower. Whatsoever, this powertrain will be offered as standard. That means there will be at least three engine options for now. Some reports are strongly suggesting new engine for the range-topping trim level. That means we can expect new gasoline powertrain that will produce over 300 horses.

The forthcoming 2021 Mitsubishi Triton will be the next-gen model. For that reason, a new version will cost slightly more, at around $35,000. New Triton will now look closer to its L200 sibling.

The main reason is the return of the Ram Dakota, an iconic pickup truck. Mid-size pickup segment is stronger than ever. For that reason, we could expect other manufacturers to deliver more significant changes as well. New Triton will hit the dealerships in the second half of 2020.
